As an enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the fresh Stadium mode in Overwatch 2, enabling us to customize each hero according to their unique abilities and skills. However, to truly maximize their potential, it’s crucial to master the optimal configurations for each hero.
In simple terms, Season 16 brings a major overhaul to OW2, and a significant contributor to this update is the addition of Stadium. This persistent third game mode offers a fresh, long-term alternative to Quick Play and Competitive modes, complete with its unique ranked system and diverse map collection.
As an avid fan, I can’t help but marvel at how Overwatch 2 Stadium amplifies the thrill of each hero, offering a plethora of potent abilities to choose from during rounds, all with the goal of crafting lethal synergies. Here are my top build recommendations for every character in OW2 Stadium.
Best Stadium Powers for all characters
In most cases, true heroes shine brightest when they specialize in a particular playstyle within the Stadium. Although being versatile is beneficial, it’s often more effective to master one or two skills exceptionally well instead of distributing your enhancements evenly across multiple ones.
After that, you may employ your Cash to address any deficiencies, such as weapon damage or cooling down periods, and also enhance their performance by boosting their efficacy.
Tanks
D.Va
- Legendary Loadout
- Overstocked
- Ignition Burst
- Tokki Slam
In Overwatch 2, D.Va is an impressive damage-dealer as is, but with the Stadium build she truly takes over the battlefield. By utilizing the Legendary Loadout and Overstocked, her Micro Missiles become even more destructive and can be used more frequently to sweep away the opposing team.
After activating Ignition Burst, it leaves a path of molten lava when you trigger the Boosters, enabling you to push opponents into designated zones and confine them. Don’t forget to invest your funds in enhancing these skills, as it will result in an incredibly resilient D.Va!
Junker Queen
- Blade Parade
- Cut ‘Em, Gracie
- Mericless Magnetism
- Twist the Knife
Junker Queen’s formidable skill, Jagged Blade, becomes even more potent when enhanced. With Blade Parade, it transforms into a powerful charged attack that boosts damage by 35%. Meanwhile, Twist the Knife extends the duration of its wounding effect, particularly with headshots.
The “Mericless Magnetism” ability mitigates the one possible issue with the “Jagged Blade” — your accuracy. When you employ the “Commanding Shout”, it will automatically home in on the closest enemy, and the “Cut ‘Em, Gracie” power decreases its recharge time when it strikes enemies as it returns.
For proficient players accustomed to the pace of tossing and retrieving the Junker Queen’s blade, this combo should let you effortlessly annihilate opposing teams.
Orisa
- Spynstem Update
- Restorify
- Advanced Throwbotics
- Lassoed
For Orisa, we advise focusing on a Stadium build that maximizes her frequent use of her strongest abilities. To achieve this, consider implementing the following suggestions:
1. Spynstem Upgrade: This enhancement allows for deflection of projectiles using Javelin Spin, and any damage incurred during this process is converted into Ultimate charge.
2. Advanced Throwbotics: This upgrade equips Orisa with the ability to deploy an Energy Javelin whenever she throws one.
Firstly, Hoops reels in enemies impaled on you, allowing you to continue attacking them with your main weapon. Ultimately, Mend-All is a useful skill that provides healing over time while Fortify is activated, keeping you engaged in combat for a longer period.
Reinhardt
- Amplification Barrier
- To Me, My Friends
- Wilhelmwagen
- Barrier Reconstruction
To maximize Rein’s potential in a team setting, it’s better to transform him from a solo player into an indispensable team member. This can be achieved by emphasizing his Barrier Field ability. With the Wilhelmwagen enhancement, some of the damage absorbed by the shield gets converted into health, and with Barrier Reconstruction, the shield repairs itself whenever it takes damage.
Later on, to share some of the excitement with your comrades, the Amplification Barrier intensifies the damage of any friendly ammunition passing through the shield, and the To Me, My Friends ability revives nearby allies when activated. All these features make the beloved Tank an ideal center that keeps his team members unharmed.
Zarya
- No Limits
- Barrier Benefits
- Pre-Workout
- Containment Shield
In Overwatch 2, there’s no character more daunting than one that’s tough to take down, and believe me, Zarya transforms into that character with this build. Before I even step foot onto the battlefield, Pre-Workout gives me a bit of life back with every shot I fire and ability I use. And when it comes to my Containment Shield, the more energy I charge, the more health I get – making me an absolute tank!
Concerning energy matters, the upgrade No Limits boosts the highest amount she can hold, enabling her to inflict even greater damage using the Particle Cannon. Furthermore, the enhancement Barrier Benefits enhances Zarya’s and her team’s resilience by bestowing extra health whenever a barrier is depleted.
DPS
Ashe
- Incendiary Rounds
- My Business, My Rules
- Reload Therapy
- Partners in Crime
One captivating aspect of Stadium is how characters like Ashe possess multiple abilities that complement each other exceptionally well. The special ability, Incendiary Rounds, increases damage when you successfully hit a targeted shot, while My Business, My Rules decreases the cooldown of your skills after hitting an enemy who’s already on fire.
In a different phrasing: The Defense Prioritization System (DPS) isn’t the most durable, so we’re making an exception to our usual strategy of sticking with one playstyle by employing a technique called “Reload Healing” to regain some health during reload times. To put it simply, Reload Healing is a tactic that allows us to recover some health while we’re reloading our weapons. Lastly, the synergy between Ashe and B.O.B, as represented by the ability Partners in Crime, is quite powerful. This skill essentially ensures that they can help keep each other alive just by dealing damage to their enemies.
Cassidy
- Dead Man Walking
- Full House
- Hot Potato
- Sunrise
In Overwatch 2, Cassidy is already an exceptional all-round damage dealer, and with this setup, he becomes a formidable opponent. The ability Dead Man Walking grants an extra bullet capacity for each kill in the current round, which complements his Full House skill perfectly as it boosts his damage based on the number of ammo slots left.
Hot Potato offers additional ammunition when an adversary is temporarily disoriented by a Flashbang. Moreover, Sunrise amplifies the destructive force of his ultimate ability by momentarily reducing the movement speed of any targets within view.
Genji
- Cybernetic Speed
- Sacred Shuriken
- Wyrm’s Maw
- Forged Under Fire
Without any enhancements or bonuses, Genji is a swift Dealing-of-Damage (DPS) character who’s hard to target, but his basic shots could use a bit more power. However, our build emphasizes boosting the strength of his Shuriken attack, making Genji significantly more formidable.
The Cybernetic Speed enhances your attack speed significantly if you’re hitting your target accurately. On the other hand, Sacred Shuriken adds two additional projectiles to your attack without any ammo cost. The Wyrm’s Maw ability amplifies these benefits, as striking an enemy with a Shuriken makes them vulnerable to extra damage from Swift Strike. Lastly, Forged Under Fire provides healing whenever you use Deflect.
Mei
- Frost Armor
- Iceberg
- Snowball Fight
- Cryclone
Among all heroes in Overwatch 2, none can control the entire battlefield quite like Mei, and Stadium offers an opportunity to elevate this concept by focusing on her strongest abilities. The Iceberg skill creates a mini blizzard that not only generates ice walls but also slows down the opposing team, while Frost Armor provides protective armor when you’re actively attacking and moving forward.
The essence of this construction lies in the synergy between two abilities: Snowball Fight, which allows you to build Ice Walls when jumping, and Cryclone, a skill that summons another Blizzard while healing with Cryo-Freeze. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be perpetually constructing walls and snowstorms, making it extremely difficult for opponents to move freely.
Reaper
- Backstabber
- Shrouded Shapnel
- Ghosted
- Spirited to Slay
Reaper doesn’t necessarily require more damage, but by focusing on enhancing his other skills instead, you can effortlessly maneuver across the map and eliminate enemies before they even have a chance to respond. The essence of this strategy lies in the skill called Shrouded Shrapnel, which boosts your primary fire after using Wraith Form.
Later on, the character known as Backstabber grants a substantial 50% boost in damage to those struck from behind following an ability usage, urging you to approach targets surreptitiously. This works particularly well with Ghosted, which slows down enemies when you pass through them while using Wraith Form, and Spirited to Slay, which refreshes the cooldown on all abilities after a successful kill.
Soldier 76
- Peripheral Pulse
- Super Visor
- Chaingun
- On Me!
If you’ve ever encountered Tactical Visor, you’re well aware of its destructive potential. Why not enhance that power? The Super Visor, when activated, momentarily triggers the Ultimate after every use of Helix Rockets. Additionally, with Peripheral Pulse , you can simultaneously lock on to two opponents during this period.
This standalone item is quite beneficial, but the Chain Gun‘s ability to add additional stacking damage during continuous firing is incredibly overpowered. Lastly, the On Me feature enables your Biotic Field to follow you, providing healing as you advance while pushing back enemies.
Support
Ana
- Pinpoint Perscription
- Tactical Rifle
- My Turn
- Sleep Regimen
In a unique opportunity, Ana can now transform from an exceptional healer into a deadly sniper, much like she was destined to be. The Pinpoint Prescription ability allows for critical hits with headshots, similar to the Headhunter Perk. This skill is further enhanced with the addition of the Tactical Rifle, which enables her to automatically focus on enemies when scoped in.
Her transition into a fully-fledged Damage Per Second (DPS) character isn’t finalized until she gains the benefits of her “My Turn” ability, which amplifies damage when the Nano Boost Ultimate is activated. Moreover, having the capability to put multiple enemies to sleep with her “Sleep Regimen” makes it simpler when targeting the backline.
Juno
- Cosmic Coolant
- Medicinal Missiles
- Pulsar Plus
- Medimaster
In Stadium, Juno’s powers may not be as transformative as other heroes, but you can craft a formidable setup by focusing on the Pulsar Torpedoes. The upgrade Pulsar Plus provides an extra charge, while Medicinal Missiles enhances their healing potential significantly. Furthermore, Cosmic Coolant decreases the recharge time of these abilities.
After that, Medi Master modifies her main attack to inflict critical hits on both adversaries and friends. Consequently, a variant of Juno emerges with enhanced healing abilities surpassing regular Overwatch standards. This way, the rest of the team can concentrate on securing kills, while she ensures they remain unscathed.
Kiriko
- Leaf on the Wind
- Supported Shooting
- Spirit Veil
- Foxy Fireworks
As a gamer, let me tell you, when it comes to the latest game mode, there’s hardly anyone better than Kiriko. She’s not just a solid healer, but she also packs a surprising punch as a damage dealer. With her Leaf on the Wind ability, each Healing Ofuda she throws bounces onto two more allies, making sure more players are covered. Plus, her Supported Shooting grants a 20% attack speed boost to anyone it touches, which means Kiriko can help multiple players at once in a flash.
In terms of destructive abilities, Foxy Fireworks enhances the initial three Kunais to explode upon reloading, making them ideal for swiftly eliminating support characters. Last but not least, Spirit Veil grants invulnerability for four seconds following the activation of her Ultimate, a feature that can be crucial in tense situations.
Lucio
- Mixtape
- Crowd Pleaser
- Sonic Boom
- Fast Forward
Historically, Lucio players have had to decide between focusing on healing or rushing aggressively to cause chaos among enemies. However, a new approach allows for a blend of these roles. By using Sonic Boom, Crowd Pleaser, and Mixtape simultaneously, you can generate significant healing while attacking with Speed Boost activated and swiftly altering your song.
Fast Forward ramps up the intensity by incorporating a speed boost that also enhances damage output. This increased damage then amplifies the healing capabilities of the other powers. To maximize your offensive potential, consider spending some Cash to enhance attack damage, making Lucio a formidable adversary.
Mercy
- Distortion
- Glass Extra Full
- Threads of Fate
- Equivalent Exchange
There’s a tendency to transform Mercy into a Damage Per Second (DPS) character using her Stadium Powers, which is certainly entertaining, but you might be overlooking the fact that she is hands down the best healing hero in the entire game. The combination of abilities like Glass Extra Full, Distortion, and Threads of Fate enables this renowned Support character to grant extra health to her teammates, as well as steal lives from enemies, with multiple team members receiving the benefits simultaneously.
Equivalent Exchange represents a significant change, trading Revive’s cooldown for three on-demand revival charges that reset at the start of each round. While it may seem like a disadvantage at first glance, in the context of Stadium’s shorter rounds, this allows you to resurrect several allies simultaneously, potentially shifting the momentum of a battle in your favor.
Moira
- Multiball
- Cross-Orbal
- Phantasm
- Optimal Overflow
Moira’s Stadium design stands out not only for its excellence but also for being a delight to utilize. This is because she has the ability to saturate the map with Biotic Orbs. Mostly, this is achieved through her skills Multiball, which sends out two additional orbs each time it’s used, and Cross-Orbal, which adds another orb, resulting in a total of four being fired simultaneously.
You can additionally enhance your gameplay using abilities like Phantasm and Optimal Overflow. These abilities will release another orb when you perform Fade or expend half of your Biotic Energy. After equipping each one and upgrading them with cash, you’ll maintain a steady flow of both types of Orbs on the battlefield, healing allies and damaging enemies even from afar without your immediate presence being required.
