Despite Bungie previously announcing a showcase for Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate scheduled for May 6, a fresh teaser video provides further insight and subtly suggests what lies ahead in the realm of the sci-fi shooter series.

Destiny 2’s upcoming significant release is called “The Edge of Fate.” Although it hasn’t been officially verified, we can speculate that this could be the next expansion or the major update for summer 2025. After confronting The Witness in “The Final Shape” and dealing with the repercussions through subsequent episodic content, “The Edge of Fate” signifies a fresh start for Guardians.

In the short preview, we see a Protector making their way with their vessel towards emblems belonging to the Nine, a collective often denoted as ‘IX’, which is connected to our own solar system – the location where all Destiny-related events have unfolded thus far.

Additionally, they manage an area of space that we currently know very little about. Interestingly, in the upper left corner of the promotional video, what appears to be ‘Kepler’ can be seen, albeit without the ‘r’. In layman’s terms, ‘Kepler’ refers to planets outside our solar system, which were discovered by NASA’s Kepler Space Telescope.

15 next to it may point towards the 15th Kepler exoplanet, more commonly known as Kepler-15 b. Additionally, the trailer appears to display ‘Chicago’ in reverse, but its significance is unclear at first glance. These indications appear to imply that the Guardians might be on the verge of exploring a completely new planetary system.

In simpler terms, Bungie hasn’t just hinted at mysterious cosmic beings once; they’ve also got an in-game event called “Rite of the Nine” happening temporarily, which will end with the arrival of the next expansion.
