If you’re eagerly awaiting the new Marvel movie, today is a momentous day. Although the film, Thunderbolts*, is not set to hit global cinemas for another week, it will make a significant stride tonight with its red carpet premiere. Fans can anticipate seeing the cast of Thunderbolts* dressing up elegantly as they walk the carpet tonight, but Florence Pugh seems likely to have quite a challenging day getting there.
Pugh will return to the MCU as Yelena in Thunderbolts*, and while the new film will surely make the character look incredible, we already know that Florence Pugh jumped off a building for one action sequence. Pugh posted to Instagram that she’s not feeling particularly stylish right now and is likely going to have a wild day leading up to the film’s premiere tonight.
It’s not surprising Florence Pugh might have had a bit too much coffee, given her busy day ahead in London with the movie premiere. What has me puzzled, though, is the state of her socks – perhaps she was rushing and didn’t notice they didn’t match? I can’t imagine how that could happen, but hopefully it won’t be a problem on the red carpet, where we can assume she’ll choose more coordinated footwear.
There are times when it feels as if the universe is conspiring against us, and it seems particularly unfair when these challenging moments occur on days when we’re already juggling numerous issues. Add to that the pressure of being under constant scrutiny with cameras focused on you, expecting you to maintain your best appearance – now that’s a test of resilience!
On opening day, the weight of expectations might be notably high for Thunderbolts, given the substantial impact early reviews and box office performance could have on its success. Previous film Captain America: Brave New World received mediocre critical acclaim and moderate box office returns, neither being a resounding triumph. A positive response following the premiere could significantly boost the movie’s chances of becoming the blockbuster hit that Marvel Studios desperately hopes for.
It’s highly likely that Florence Pugh will draw much focus and attention, as numerous eyes and cameras seem to zero in on her. Despite being part of an exceptionally talented cast, her role in the Thunderbolts seems quite significant, hinting at a leading position within the team. At the very least, she is the most prominent female character in the movie, which ensures that she will receive considerable spotlight.
It’s quite plausible that the Thunderbolts stars might not receive much personal attention. Instead, many questions on the red carpet may veer away from Thunderbolts and delve into the future developments within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Given that most of the Thunderbolts cast has been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, a movie currently in production, it’s likely that journalists will try to extract as much information as possible from the actors about this upcoming project.
