CBS Orders Tim Meadows’ ‘DMV’ Comedy and Matthew Gray Gubler’s ‘Einstein’ Drama to Series

CBS has approved production for two new shows: “DMV,” a single-camera comedy starring Tim Meadows, and “Einstein,” a drama featuring Matthew Gray Gubler.

Both projects had been previously announced as pilots in development at the network.

In the humor-infused sitcom “DMV,” Meadows portrays a character who was once an English teacher at high school, now turned examiner. His ultimate goal is to expedite the driving tests as much as possible. Sharing the screen with him is Harriett Dyer, who embodies Colette, a sympathetic examiner with a quirky and anxious side, struggling with boundaries. Despite her flaws, she genuinely cheers for the driving test candidates to succeed.

Molly Kearney takes on the role of Barbara, the exuberant DMV boss who thinks she’s one of the cool kids. Alex Tarrant portrays Noa, the attractive, laid-back surfer. Tony Cavalero plays Vic, a charismatic character with a questionable past as both a security guard and head chef. Gigi Zumbado is Ceci, a feisty, resilient, and bold woman responsible for taking drivers license photos.

Or, in another way:

In the show, Molly Kearney plays Barbara, an energetic DMV boss who fancies herself as part of the group. Alex Tarrant is Noa, a charming surfer guy, while Tony Cavalero brings Vic to life, a lovable rogue with experience in security and cooking. Gigi Zumbado’s character, Ceci, is a tough, sassy woman who specializes in taking drivers license photos.

A drama titled “Einstein” revolves around the story of a grandson of Albert Einstein, who is exceptionally intelligent but lacks direction. He spends his days in a comfortable professorship position until an encounter with the law compels him to collaborate with a local detective to solve various cases.

Gubler portrays Lewis Einstein, a character who finds meaning in his life by assisting with murder investigations. He works alongside Rosa Salazar, playing the role of Veronica “Ronni” Paris, a diligent and focused detective from the New Jersey State Police.

The DMV” is overseen by executive producers Dana Klein, Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling, Robyn Meisinger, and Trent O’Donnell who also serves as the pilot director.

Andy Breckman, Tariq Jalil, Rose Hughes, Rodrigo Herrera Ibarguengoytia, Laura Beetz and director Randy Zisk serve as executive producers for the show titled ‘Einstein’.

Release dates will be announced when the CBS 2025-2026 schedule is revealed on May 7.

The announcement about these new show orders arrives following the cancellation of “Poppa’s House” starring Damon Wayans Sr. and Jr., along with the competition series “The Summit.
