Switch 2 Pro Controller’s Charging Time Is Half That Of The Original Device, Nintendo Says

Prior to the release on June 5th, individuals who want to preorder the Switch 2 console can also get some accompanying accessories. One such accessory will be the Switch 2 Pro Controller, which, despite resembling the original model from 2017, Nintendo claims has undergone a notable enhancement in one key area.

According to NintendoSoup on the official Nintendo site, the new Pro Controller now takes approximately three hours to charge when the console is in sleep mode, which is about half the time compared to the original Pro Controller. What’s intriguing is that the revised Pro Controller has a smaller 1070 mAh battery capacity, yet it charges faster. Interestingly, Nintendo estimates that overall battery life will last up to 40 hours of use, depending on the game being played and usage conditions, despite having a smaller battery compared to the original model with a 1,300 mAh battery.

Among the fresh additions to the controller are two customizable buttons situated at the back and a C-button that triggers GameChat for those with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. If you press it without having Nintendo Switch Online, there’s no harm or negative consequences, as confirmed by Nintendo in their recent interview.

Just like other first-party accessories for the Switch 2, the newly launched Pro Controller has seen a price increase due to market circumstances. It was initially priced at $80, but now carries an Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $85. Additionally, collectible Amiibo figures will cost more than previously anticipated.
