This story contains major spoilers for HBO’s The Last of Us.

In a departure from his character in The Last of Us, Joel (portrayed by Pedro Pascal), was written out in Season 2, Episode 2, which aired on April 20. However, this does not mean that Joel’s storyline is complete within the TV series – quite the contrary.

Craig Mazin, the showrunner and writer, shared with TV Line that Joel and Ellie, portrayed by Bella Ramsey, form an “unforgettable pair.” He also promised enthusiasts that there will be more of them on-screen, presented in fresh, innovative ways.

As a devoted viewer, I can’t help but notice that this current season has given us plenty of opportunities to witness these characters interacting. Moreover, it seems like there are more intriguing events unfolding between them compared to what we experienced during Season 1.

In the first season, Joel and Ellie share a heartwarming bond and embark on an extraordinary adventure, given the post-apocalyptic setting, according to Mazin. While their connection in Season 1 was relatively straightforward, he stated that their relationship takes a more intricate turn in Season 2.

In summary, he found their journey deeply impactful, filled with thought-provoking moments and undertones of optimism. On behalf of all the fans of Bella and Pedro, I express our approval and support for more of such content coming your way.

Could it be that in the game, there were a higher number of flashback sequences, and a greater emphasis was placed on the interactions between Ellie and Joel before Joel’s demise?
