CFB 26 Will Feature An Unexpected Tie-In With One Of The Biggest Bands Ever

EA Sports has teamed up with iconic rock group Metallica in an exciting collaboration. Known as the “For Whom The Band Tolls Competition,” this partnership allows one college marching band to seize the opportunity to record the theme song for College Football, along with a Metallica track, which will be featured in a future College Football video game title.

From what we have learned thus far, there’s only news about this competition. The announcement revealed that the victorious marching band will record a Metallica song for an upcoming edition of CFB, suggesting that the song might not be released until the anticipated CFB 27 in 2026, given its recent unveiling in late April.

In Nashville, Torsten Staley from EA, gathered a team of musicians consisting of students and graduates from universities such as Oklahoma, North Texas, Vanderbilt, USC, Auburn, and Tennessee. They all joined forces to record the fight songs for CFB 25. Additionally, a house band in Nashville recorded the CFB theme song – you can listen to it here.

Despite not yet being officially unveiled, it’s been hinted that College Football 26 will be released this year by EA Sports. This year, they are offering student-athletes a significant increase in payment, with at least $1,500 compared to last year’s amount. Additionally, we can expect a partnership between the game and Lowe’s.

The CFB 26 game is projected to debut in July, as per EA Sports executive Daryl Holt’s statement to The Athletic. He mentioned that the team couldn’t fit all their desired features into the 2024 game, leaving plenty of room for additional content, as he put it, “There’s a lot of potential left unexplored.

In response to queries about the details of CFB 26, Holt chose not to elaborate, instead hinting mysteriously, “There’s plenty more in store for you.

In the United States during the year 2024, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 edged out CFB 25 to become the second highest-selling video game overall, with CFB 25 coming in as a close second.
