Season 4 of the show is now in production, and things are moving smoothly. However, the lead actor, Brett Goldstein, remains astonished that the series has been renewed for another season, and he expressed his feelings quite eloquently, using the word “flabbergasted.
During an interview with Rachel Martin on the podcast, Goldstein shared an unusual anecdote about Ted Lasso when asked about the show. He reminisced about a college friend of his, saying, “This is something I often ponder…”. His friend had a cat that passed away, hit by a car and was buried. At the time, the friend was just a child.
Goldsten continued, “The tale seemed to be heading towards a chilling resemblance of Stephen King’s ‘Pet Sematary.’ He explained, ‘They placed their feline friend in the garden grave, and he lay there, mourning so deeply, so distraught, pleading for its return. ‘I wish my cat would come back,’ he prayed fervently. And miraculously, the cat did return, but it turned out not to be the one they had buried. This thought often lingers in my mind.’
Goldstein went on in a manner reminiscent of his Ted Lasso character, cursing freely as he expressed, “So, I’m thinking to myself, that explains why this man is off his rocker. He believes death isn’t genuine, so it’s no surprise he’s acting peculiar. He thinks he can resurrect the dead, which makes him quite an unusual character. In essence, I find myself feeling like that child who lost a beloved toy – we buried it, we mourned, we held a funeral. Are you suggesting we can bring anything back to life? It’s too much responsibility.
Just as in the tale, Ted Lasso seemingly met his end, but it seemed too good to be true. Many believed this marked the final chapter for the adored Richmond team. However, an unexpected revelation was made.
Ted Lasso Season Four Will Focus Around A Women’s Team
In a charming turn of events, Ted Lasso captured audiences with its heartwarming tale about an American football coach tasked with managing a British team, despite being unfamiliar with the sport’s rules. As we move forward into the next season, Ted finds himself in a fresh predicament: coaching a women’s football team. The groundwork for this new adventure was subtly set in the final episode of season three, a creative idea that originated from Rebecca, Ted’s former adversary who has since become a trusted confidant.
It appears that Waddingham, Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins are expected to be back for the new series, along with Juno Temple as Keeley Jones. However, Phil Dunster, who plays Jamie Tartt, might not be able to return due to conflicting schedules related to his character’s aging process.
