It appears that the new Battlefield game may feature classic, destructible environments once again, as evidenced by a sneak peek at its destructive features provided by developers DICE. They showcased this in a short video from an early build of the game, demonstrating how a player could demolish a building and then swiftly enter the now expansive interior.

DICE outlined their strategy for adding destructible elements into the game, with the objective being to enable players to modify their environment and adapt it strategically. The article mentions that there will be visual and auditory signals indicating which areas can be destroyed. Although the demo only showed partial building destruction, it’s expected that players could eventually bring down an entire building to eliminate an attacking team.
Structures and items may not shatter instantly. Over time, as they endure continuous harm, they will show signs of decay or deterioration, also known as “visual degradation.” Additionally, wreckage from the demolition won’t vanish, allowing players to utilize it for protection during gunfights.
In this particular test, DICE is concentrating on enabling players to distinguish between areas that can be damaged and those that cannot. Additionally, they are investigating the impact of destructible components and resulting damage on the overall gaming experience.
Even though participants in the Battlefield trials have agreed to non-disclosure agreements, there has been a significant amount of information leaked about the game. The development team is not pleased with these leaks as the tests don’t always reflect what the final product will be like. Recently, Battlefield’s lead producer David Sirland spoke up about the rumors surrounding the game’s possible implementation of skill-based matchmaking, which are likely based on data from the play tests.
According to an earlier prediction, the following Battlefield game is expected to be released in October 2025. Nevertheless, Electronic Arts (EA) hasn’t announced any specific timeframe for its launch as of now.
