In the South Korean movie market, the crime thriller “Yadang: The Informer” debuted at the top spot, earning approximately $4.1 million and accounting for about 69.8% of the weekend’s total box office earnings.
Titled “Yadang: The Informer,” directed by Hwang Byeng-Gug, this upcoming movie features Squid Game 2’s Kang Ha-neul in the cast. Produced by the team behind the blockbusters “12:12 The Day” and “Inside Men,” it revolves around a professional informant known as “yadang.” This individual supplies covert information about the drug world to prosecutors and law enforcement. However, when a drug raid at an exclusive party involving high-profile second-generation VIPs uncovers a lethal conspiracy, the yadang must battle for survival. The film brings Kang together with “Exhuma” star Yoo Hai-jin and “The World of the Married” actor Park Hae-joon on screen.

The movie’s running tally now stands at $5.2 million with a grand total of 786,032 admissions, which represents one of the strongest domestic debuts of the year thus far.
The strong showing significantly boosted the total earnings of the top 10 box office, taking it up to $5.4 million, compared to the relatively quiet $3.4 million collected the previous week.
Dropping down to the second position, the movie that used to be number one, “The Match,” made an additional $705,043 over the weekend with 105,817 ticket sales. Having been in theaters for four weeks now, this sports drama has earned a total of $13.1 million, attracting close to 2 million viewers so far.
In the latest box office report, “Attack on Titan: The Final Battle” maintained its momentum, finishing third with a total of $171,764 and an additional 22,435 spectators. The anime’s conclusion has amassed approximately $5.3 million in Korea from over 752,000 viewers.
Before its nationwide release on April 26th, “A Minecraft Movie” had a small, initial screening. It earned $171,633 and attracted 20,916 viewers across 83 cinemas, which is equivalent to the revenue share of “Attack on Titan” at 2.9%. In simpler terms, during this limited run, “A Minecraft Movie” made about the same amount per theater as “Attack on Titan”.

During its opening weekend, it drew in 11,720 viewers who collectively contributed $77,951 to its box office earnings. This British romantic comedy has been captivating audiences in Korea since its midweek premiere, accumulating a total of $191,408 in ticket sales.
In its sixth week, the animated film “Flow” earned an additional $57,600, bringing its overall gross revenue to $1.1 million and attracting a total of 166,713 viewers.
The biographical drama titled “Maria,” featuring Angelina Jolie, debuted at the seventh spot earning $39,819 from 6,272 ticket sales. The Japanese horror movie “Sayuri” came in just behind with $38,476 from 5,635 admissions.
