After fifteen long years, it’s time for the ancient champion Gragas in League of Legends to undergo censorship as he receives an update to one of his skills.
Riot Games has shared that they’re changing the name of one of Gragas’ abilities. Gragas, one of League of Legends’ earliest characters, was introduced to the roster on February 2, 2010, only a few months after the game debuted for the first time.
A notable characteristic of his is that his equipment setup seems to primarily focus on facilitating drinking and becoming intoxicated.
Examine the skill called “Drunken Rage”. This skill lets him lessen the damage he takes after consuming his beverage, and also boosts his attacking power for the following attack. However, after many years, it’s been confirmed that this ability won’t go by this name anymore.
Gragas is now a lot more “discreet” with his brews

On April 18, 2025, League Studio head Andrei van Roon revealed an announcement. Despite no adjustments to the characters’ core skills, there seems to be a notable alteration concerning a specific term that players must adapt to.
In a recent update on X, it was clarified that they’ve revised Gragas’ skill titles to eliminate the ‘(Drunken)’ prefix, ensuring compliance with age rating standards worldwide.
If you wish, you can take a moment to honor him with a drink,” he mentioned further. He also made clear to the fans that Gragas is still enjoying his beverages, but this time he’s being “a bit more subtle about it.
It’s not unusual for champions to be adjusted or softened to fit with age restrictions. In fact, even Graves, another character, underwent a comparable alteration earlier, as his cigar was taken out.
Nonetheless, a lot of fans weren’t happy with this change to Gragas.
One user expressed strong dissatisfaction with the change, stating it’s “really unfortunate” since his entire personality or self-concept revolves significantly around consuming alcohol.
The name of his ability is ‘Happy Hour,’ and its backstory revolves around finding the ideal drink. Denying this fact doesn’t make the game suitable for all ages, given that there are much more mature content already present.
In another comment, a user expressed: “What’s the reason for the alteration? I believe that youngsters shouldn’t participate in leagues to begin with. It makes me quite sad.
