Titus Welliver Reveals Why Maggie Q’s Ballard Is the Ultimate Bosch Sequel You Can’t Miss

The series “Bosch: Legacy” might be wrapping up, but the world of the main character, Bosch, is far from finished, and there’s still more screen time ahead for him. In the final episode of the series (“Big Dawn”), played by Titus Welliver, Harry Bosch encounters Renée Ballard (played by Maggie Q), marking the start of a new chapter of adventures that will be featured in the upcoming spinoff series titled “Ballard“. The actor who has portrayed Bosch for years shares nothing but positive and enthusiastic remarks about the new lead character in the expanding “Bosch” universe. Aren’t we fortunate to have such a rich tapestry of stories from Michael Connelly‘s books?

Maggie truly shines in her performance, and she quickly grasped the character, as Welliver stated in a recent interview with Parade. There’s a specific tone in the Bosch series that should be followed, and she understood Renée intuitively right away. I believe our paths to understanding this character were not far apart. She picked up the script and thought, “I know who she is. I know how I want to portray her.

Following her pursuit of him back to his Hollywood office and insisting he give back the files regarding the “Flower Girl” murder case, Harry Bosch manages to convince Renee Ballard that teaming up might be essential to stop this elusive cold case assassin. As Welliver stated, they eventually find themselves collaborating, albeit unwillingly. “They cross paths and are forced to work together,” he said. “We had a fantastic time working together and I’m really looking forward to her series launch, as well as for the audience.

And apparently it’s been a long time, fan-speculated moment, too:

Fans of the books have long hoped to see Ballard interact with Harry. For quite some time, people on social media have speculated, ‘Will Renée Ballard ever join the story?’ This wish has finally come true, which makes me very excited.

What’s Next For Harry Bosch, Michael Connelly’s Beloved Character?

Certainly,

Spoiler Alert: You should know that Harry didn’t actually steal the casebooks; instead, he made copies of them because the case has been troubling him ever since it remained unsolved. Moreover, when Bosch discovered that Ballard belongs to the LAPD RHD (Robbery Homicide Division), and a new lead or possibly another murder had prompted her to delve into his past, he cleverly employed his connections to join the investigation. However, this isn’t without some tension since that’s what makes television narratives captivating, right?

This situation provides an excellent foundation for Maggie Q’s new character and the upcoming chapter in the Bosch saga.

Maggie and I share numerous mutual friends, but strangely enough, we had never crossed paths or collaborated before. However, when we finally met, the connection was undeniable – it was like magic. Everything about it clicked perfectly. She truly shines as Ballard. Hearing about her in casting discussions made me excited; I thought to myself, ‘If you can get her, that’s a home run!’ That’s quite an enthusiastic recommendation, don’t you agree?

Now, who’s ready for Ballard to premiere this summer? We know Bosch is, in the very least.
