In simple terms, creators Brent Maddock and S.S. Wilson are mulling over the idea of having Kevin Bacon rejoin the series following a significant creative success.
According to reports, the original makers and creative minds behind the movie “Tremors” have regained control over the film’s rights. This development paves the way for a potential new installment, free from studio interference. In a statement issued by Maddock, Wilson, director Ron Underwood, and producer Nancy Roberts, the team declared that they will be steering clear of any “outside suggestions.
The conversation moves forward, focusing on a sequel titled “Return-to-Perfection” and some additional eccentric concepts involving graboids in diverse environments. Whatever concept we ultimately present to Hollywood, it won’t be a rehash of the original movie with a new cast. Moreover, it won’t be a revamped version of Tremors 5 as scripted previously. However, there are discussions about bringing Kevin Bacon back as Val, but nothing is set in stone!
The Tremors series began with a 1990 movie sharing its title, where we find a handyman named Val living in the fictional desert town of Perfection, Nevada, working alongside Earl Bassett portrayed by Fred Ward. As colossal, worm-like creatures called Graboids start devouring and frightening the locals, it’s up to Val, Earl, and a few other survivors to combat these attacks. The movie Tremors boasted an ensemble cast, including Finn Carter as Rhonda LeBeck, Bobby Jacoby as Melvin Plug, and Michael Gross, who became famous for his role as Burt Gummer – the conspiracy theorist and gun-loving survivor.
Tremors Became a Cult Classic
Back to Perfection (2001), Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004), Tremors 5: Bloodlines (2015), Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell (2018), and Tremors: Shrieker Island (2020). The franchise even ventured into television with Tremors: The Series, which aired for one season in 2003. In 2017, Kevin Bacon reprised his role as Val for a pilot episode of a second Tremors series on TV. However, the show wasn’t picked up by any networks, so no additional episodes were produced.
