MBJ’s Shocking Condition for Another Sinners Movie

In Ryan Coogler’s newly released vampire movie, Michael B. Jordan portrays twin characters named Smoke and Stack. Initially set to debut in March, the film has now made its way to theaters. With audiences eagerly anticipating this collaboration between Jordan and Coogler, the film’s lead actor hinted that he might reprise his twin roles for a prequel, provided Coogler believes another installment is essential.

In conversation with Jordan, the possibility of a prequel to the movie “Sinners” came up, considering the numerous historical references in the film about Smoke and Stack. Jordan expressed openness to the idea, stating, “Well, I guess if it ever happened…” However, Jordan made it clear that any decision regarding a prequel would ultimately be up to Ryan Coogler, who did not flatly reject the concept but seems content with “Sinners” as a standalone film. Coogler shared, “I prefer movies where it feels like there was a world before and one will continue after…

Coogler acknowledges that it’s always good when people are curious about his characters, saying “It’s the best compliment someone can give.” In the movie, Smoke and Stack’s past is explored extensively, revealing they served in World War I before moving to Chicago and working with notorious gangster Al Capone. If a prequel were made, there seems to be plenty of storyline to develop. However, given Coogler’s comments, it appears unlikely that the prequel will focus on the gangster world.

Sinners is Off to a Great Start at the Box Office

The movie “Sinners” had a fantastic start with a $4.7 million box office take on its preview night. It’s predicted to have a powerful opening weekend, potentially earning between $45 million and $50 million. However, the favorable buzz around the film could push its earnings beyond this expectation. So far, “Sinners” has been praised by critics, boasting a remarkable 97% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Besides Jordan playing twin roles as Smoke and Stack, the series Sinners boasts Miles Caton making his big-screen debut (similar to Spider-Man in Spider-Verse), Wunmi Mosaku known for Deadpool & Wolverine, Jack O’Connell famed from Ferrari, Delroy Lindo recognized for Malcolm X, Omar Benson Miller of 8 Mile, Jayme Lawson from The Batman, Li Jun Li in Babylon, and Lola Kirke who starred in Gone Girl. Coogler not only wrote the script but also produced the film.

Sinners is now playing in theaters.
