star Titus Welliver opens up about the sequel series’ recent cancellation.
Regarding the sudden termination of Bosch: Legacy, Welliver expressed his discontent, stating, “Playing a character like Bosch for as long as I have, although it’s fiction, you can’t help but develop a connection with that character. It becomes intensely personal.
Welliver shared that he’s often telling people, “I miss Harry,” recently. He describes Harry as a fellow he would enjoy spending time with and sharing meals, because there is a richness to the character that makes him fascinating. In essence, Welliver misses both the character and the experience of playing him. However, he emphasized that he, along with the cast and crew, continue to stay connected and have future plans. But, the daily creative process and collaboration experienced during this project has been the most enriching part of his career so far, similar to not wanting an endless ice cream buffet to end.
The Amazon Prime Video series “Bosch,” which debuted in 2014, is developed around the characters from Michael Connelly’s numerous interconnected novels, with Bosch first introduced in his 1992 novel “The Black Echo.” The third season of the show was partly inspired by this book. Over seven seasons and 68 episodes, Bosch captivated audiences until it concluded in 2021. In 2022, a spin-off titled “Bosch: Legacy” emerged, offering more heart-stopping action and intricate plotlines that mirror its predecessor. Both series received high praise from both critics and viewers, with several seasons on both platforms receiving perfect 100% scores on Rotten Tomatoes.
Bosch: Legacy Is Getting a Spinoff
As Bosch: Legacy concludes its run, the broader Bosch universe expands with a new spinoff series titled Ballard. This upcoming series revolves around Detective Renée Ballard, a well-known character from Michael Connelly’s novels who often delves into cold cases. Ballard has been the main focus of six books within her own series, with the first being 2017’s The Late Show. The actress who played the lead in The CW’s Nikita and FBI Special Agent Hannah Wells on ABC’s Designated Survivor, will take on the role of an LAPD detective tasked with investigating cold cases. In the recently released teaser for the series, Welliver reprises his role as Harry Bosch; however, he is only credited for appearing in a single episode.
Bosch and Bosch: Legacy are both available for streaming now on Prime Video.
