At last, Electronic Arts (EA) has unveiled Star Wars Zero Company – a fresh turn-based strategy game set within the legendary galaxy, far, far away. Featuring gaming mechanics devised by ex-developers from XCOM and Civilization, along with a Clone Wars setting that longtime enthusiasts will recognize, here’s what we currently know about it.
For several years, Electronic Arts (EA) has been working diligently on a non-Jedi focused Star Wars game that isn’t quite Battlefront. At last, we have learned what this project is about. The game, titled “Star Wars Zero Company,” was officially revealed during the 2025 Star Wars Celebration event held in Japan.
Led by developers previously involved with XCOM and Civilization, Zero Company represents a fresh direction for the franchise within the gaming industry, particularly at the AAA level (ignoring Galaxy of Heroes). This game is a turn-based strategy title where players construct their teams, embark on missions, and carefully plan their path to victory.
With the upcoming launch, there’s lots to look forward to, and even though we’re still in the initial stages, there’s already a wealth of topics to explore. Here’s a comprehensive overview of Star Wars Project Zero.
What is Star Wars Zero Company?
The game titled “Star Wars Zero Company” is a forthcoming tactical strategy experience. In this game, you’ll encounter fresh characters, and your mission includes assembling these individuals, strengthening their relationships, and ensuring their success in combat through astute choices.

In simpler terms, turn-based games are about strategy and execution. Before starting a mission, you need to assemble the perfect team with suitable equipment and skills, then make thoughtful decisions during combat. Whether it’s choosing the best position or timing an attack perfectly, every small choice matters and requires careful consideration.
Is there a release date?
At the moment, an exact release date for Star Wars: Zero Company hasn’t been specified yet. However, it’s been planned to be released in the year 2026.
I’ve been eagerly anticipating this game for quite some time now, given that it’s been under development for several years. Based on my hunch, I think we might get our hands on it as early as the first half of 2026!
Rest assured, we’ll keep you updated here with further details as they emerge.
What platforms will it be on?
It’s been officially announced that the Star Wars Zero Company will be available for play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms following its unveiling on April 19, 2025.
As a gamer, I’m eagerly waiting for any news on whether there might be a Nintendo Switch 2 version of my favorite games. So far, t Survivor to PS4 and Xbox One 17 months after its initial launch in September, 2024, so there’s always a chance we might see something similar happening with other games.
When is Star Wars Zero Company set?
The Star Wars Zero Company takes place towards the close of the time when the Clone Wars were prevalent. During this epoch, the Sith were approaching their peak power while the Republic was gradually weakening due to continuous conflict.
As a member of Zero Company, an eclectic mix of interstellar beings, I find myself navigating through a chaotic cosmos riddled with rival factions and ruthless bounty hunters, each one trying to exploit the galaxy’s instability for their own gain. We, the misfit crew, strive to carve out our place among the stars.

Who’s in it? Character details
In this scenario, we assume the persona of a character called Hawks, who was previously an officer in the Republic. At this point, not much has been revealed about the main character, except that they require substantial help to achieve their objective.
We plan to recruit an eclectic group of intergalactic freelancers. With a Twi’lek, Trandoshian, and hopefully a Gungan all in the same crew, there’s sure to be disagreements. However, it’s our role to facilitate them resolving their conflicts so they can collaborate effectively on a larger task.
Regarding our potential enemies, it remains undetermined at this point in the storyline. The initial trailer hinted at confrontations involving robots, but beyond that, we’re left guessing for now.

As a passionate fan, I must admit there’s a lot up in the air about the nature of our upcoming foes. What is certain though, is that we are dealing with an emerging threat, one that could potentially devour the entire galaxy if we don’t act swiftly. Since Exogorths aren’t known for their appetite, it leaves me wondering what this new danger might be. I can hardly wait to uncover its secrets!
At this point, it’s uncertain whether any Star Wars franchise icons will show up in Zero Company. Since it falls within the timeline, there’s a wealth of popular characters to choose from, but they don’t seem to be the main focus. Instead, developers are more interested in creating a game featuring an original Star Wars story and new characters.
Gameplay details
In this strategy game that operates in turns, the main emphasis is on constructing and enhancing your team of operatives. Throughout your journey, you’ll encounter additional characters who can assist in the mission. Once they’ve joined, you have the freedom to customize them in various aspects, such as their visual design, equipment, and skills.

Characters are available in a variety of forms and dimensions, according to a related press release, featuring characters such as Clone Troopers, Astromechs, and even Jedi. The more you deploy them on missions, the more skilled they’ll become, leading to increased power.
In an interesting twist, interacting with specific characters can strengthen their relationship, enabling you to discover “unexpected tactical advantages” in battle. The specifics of these benefits aren’t fully detailed yet, but developers hint at a vast array of opportunities when tailoring how your team functions together, suggesting virtually limitless customization possibilities.

Beyond what you see now, there’s a central zone to delve into and develop further during your assignments. This space offers opportunities for exploration and intelligence gathering to aid you in upcoming tasks.
Who’s making it? Dev studio confirmed
Bit Reactor is the game development studio responsible for creating Star Wars: Squadrons, although you might not recognize the name as it’s a relatively new team. This team comprises of experienced professionals from the gaming industry who have previously worked on projects such as XCOM, Civilization, Gears of War, The Elder Scrolls Online, and many others.
Fresh on the scene, Bit Reactor is working together with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games to create their debut game titled Zero Company. With their combined wealth of knowledge and skill, you can feel confident that this exciting venture will be successfully completed.
