Showrunner Dario Scardapane discusses if the upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again” could potentially feature Spider-Man in its second season within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first season of “Daredevil: Born Again” concluded with a grim cliffhanger, leaving Daredevil and all New York vigilantes in a precarious position. By the end of “Daredevil: Born Again” season 1, Matt Murdock had amassed a group of insurgents, but none were recognized Marvel superheroes. In the second season of “Daredevil: Born Again,” street-level heroes like the Defenders may join forces with Daredevil to bring down Wilson Fisk. However, the main question revolving around this scenario is whether Spider-Man will collaborate with Daredevil in the coming phases.
As a passionate movie reviewer, I recently got the chance to chat with Dario Scardapane, the mastermind behind the highly-anticipated series “Daredevil: Born Again”. During our conversation, he was quizzed about the tantalizing speculation surrounding Tom Holland’s Spider-Man potentially making an appearance in season 2 of Matt Murdock’s Marvel Cinematic Universe show.
When asked if the hauntingly beautiful score in the season 1 finale truly pointed towards the Web-Slinger, Scardapane admitted that he was caught off guard by the buzz surrounding this theory. He went on to clarify that at the moment, he remains in the dark about “the plans for that specific character”. So, while we can’t say for certain whether our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will swing into action alongside Daredevil anytime soon, one thing is clear: “Daredevil: Born Again” promises to deliver a thrilling and unpredictable ride!
I must admit, I was taken aback when I saw the posts about that theme being part of our story. Marvel doesn’t always disclose their plans to me, so I don’t have all the details. To be honest, I’m not sure what’s planned for that specific character.
Dario Scardapane discusses the possibility of including Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, comparing it to adding Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock to Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, Scardapane explains that the team working on Daredevil: Born Again primarily focuses on Matt Murdock’s corner of New York City. He implies that only those in higher positions or involved with other shows might propose a crossover idea. As of now, there has been no suggestion that Spider-Man will be integrated into the storyline of Daredevil: Born Again.
It’s amusing because being part of a universe as expansive as the MCU means we each have our own small areas. For us, it’s Hell’s Kitchen, which is like a neighborhood next to Avengers Tower. We usually stick to our area until someone asks, “What about…?” When executives, people from other shows, or movie cast members show interest in our world, we might get questions like, “What do you think of…?” So far, I haven’t received any such queries regarding Spider-Man.
