The movie, which Snyder fans eagerly anticipated when Joss Whedon’s version of the DCEU film was criticized upon its release in 2017, was finally Zack Snyder’s much-awaited reimagining that hit screens in 2021. Despite mixed reviews from critics, it appeared to rectify several cinematic missteps. This is a point that Zack Snyder himself discussed in a recent interview with GQ.
Despite not getting a full-fledged stint as Batman in the DCEU, Affleck found joy during his tenure. In a recent chat, Affleck shared why he thinks fans are drawn to Zack Snyder’s late edition of “Justice League”. He expressed:
The Snyder Cut essentially represents Zack Snyder’s original vision for the movie. A director often has a strong, unique idea about the story they want to convey, and this is exactly what he had. However, commercial expectations, such as a highly valuable intellectual property, can sometimes conflict with the director’s creative intentions. This tension may have led to the first film feeling like it doesn’t quite fit into any category, which unfortunately happens in some cases.
Affleck likewise considers his involvement in Zack Snyder’s Justice League an unusual opportunity, since it’s seldom that an unfinished film project gets another shot at correcting its course. Moreover, he stated:
That film features numerous extended slow-motion scenes, is presented in black and white, and carries an R-rating. It truly embodies Zack’s original vision. Few have the opportunity to return to their ideas and attempt to realize them as intended.
