Nintendo has announced when Americans can begin pre-ordering the Switch 2, and they’ve also confirmed that the console’s initial pricing will stay the same.
On the 2nd of April, 2025, Nintendo officially unveiled that the next version of their Switch console, known as the Switch 2, will hit global shelves on the 5th of June. Pre-orders for this highly anticipated device can be placed from the 9th of April onwards.
On the very same day, President Donald Trump imposed fresh tariffs on both China and Vietnam. This unexpected move led to Nintendo postponing the release of pre-orders for their next-generation console in the U.S. indefinitely.
Nintendo has disclosed the date for when pre-orders can be made within the country, and they’ve also assured that the console’s initial release price will stay unchanged.
Nintendo reveals Switch 2 US preorder date
In a blog post announcement, it’s revealed that pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will start on April 24, 2025. On its debut, the cost of the console itself stays the same at $449.99, while the Nintendo Switch 2 with Mario Kart World bundle will retail for $499.99.
Additionally, the firm has confirmed that the cost for both the physical and digital editions of Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza will remain consistent at $79.99 for Mario Kart World and $69.99 for Donkey Kong Bananza.
The fixed prices for Nintendo Switch 2 in the United States will continue at their current levels, starting from $449. Pre-ordering opportunities will be available as of April 24th.

Despite this, prices for Switch 2 accessories may be altered as a result of market fluctuations. It’s also worth noting that potential price changes for any Nintendo product might occur in the future if market conditions demand it.

At this point in time, the company hasn’t specified if this update applies to Canada, but since Nintendo postponed pre-orders for the Switch 2 in Canada to match its release date in the U.S., it might suggest that the update could also pertain to Canada.
