A fresh film titled “Sinners” offers an exhilarating blend of horror, western, and captivating blues tunes, culminating in a breathtaking finale.
As a gamer, I’d rephrase that as: “In the shoes of a storyteller, Ryan Coogler crafted the genre-blending masterpiece ‘Sinners.’ Drawing on his personal roots, he breathed life into the characters of Smoke and Stack, portrayed by Michael B. Jordan – identical twins with dreams of establishing a juke joint back in their Mississippi hometown, all set in the year 1932.”
They buy a barn from a nearby resident who’s part of the Ku Klux Klan, bring in their gifted relative Sammy (Miles Caton) to perform on the guitar, and the inaugural event turns out to be a massive hit.
It isn’t until the mysterious visitor named Remmick (Jack O’Connell) knocks on their door that the terror begins, causing the idyllic twin’s life to transform into a gruesome nightmarish reality. WARNING: SPOILERS follow…
Who lives and who dies in Sinners
The scary scenario unfolding at the bar is because Remmick is a vampire, intending to transform every patron by the end of the evening.
In this scenario, the movie addresses racial themes as it depicts characters Remmick, Smoke, and Stack experiencing greater liberty in their afterlife. The narrative also delves into the issue of cultural misappropriation, suggesting that Remmick, a white character, seeks to exploit the musical abilities of the Black community by biting them symbolically.
Without fail, the movie concludes in a gory spectacle, as Smoke, Stack, and their comrades resort to conventional methods like garlic and driving stakes through hearts to defend themselves.
In the heat of the battle, I unfortunately lose comrades I once called friends. Mary, Stack’s ex, falls victim to the chaos and gets turned into a vampire. It breaks my heart to say this, but Smoke is forced to take her down to save her from the same fate.
Annie, my former partner, seems to be on a similar path. In a desperate attempt to help her, Smoke makes the tough decision to end her life, hoping it will spare her from becoming a vampire. The twist comes when Remmick gets turned into a vampire. It’s Sammy who steps up and takes him out, using the very guitar that initially drew the undead towards us.
At dawn, the last of the vampires are destroyed, ensuring the safety of both Smoke and Sammy throughout the night. However, while Sammie manages to flee unharmed, Smoke bravely confronts the approaching Klansmen at their shared hideout, leading to a fierce battle that ultimately results in his demise.
In the game of life, my character, Smoke, got a lucky roll. He saw a glimpse of reunion with Annie and our baby, lost in another realm. As the credits rolled on the final screen, Sammy chose to keep on grooving to his blues, ignoring his pop’s plea for a pause.
Sinners mid-credits and post-credits scene explained

Afterward, the movie offers an exceptional mid-credit sequence set in 1992. Instead, it features the character Sammy, portrayed this time by the esteemed blues musician Buddy Guy, performing in a bar.
Towards the close of the evening, Stack and Mary, both youthful and radiant, drop by, their outfits reminiscent of the trendy ’90s fashion.
It’s come to light that Smoke granted Stack’s life, but demanded he keep away from Sammy. Faithfully, Stack adhered to this pledge, until this moment when Sammy is on the brink of death.

The pair proposes to flip the situation for Sammy to achieve immortality, yet he declines, choosing instead to depart according to his own decisions.
Before parting ways, all three concur that the extraordinary evening at the juke joint, filled with merriment before the ensuing violence and loss of life, stood as the most memorable night of their existence. Following this, Stack and Mary venture into the night, unscathed – or perhaps we should say, un-expired – leaving room for further tales in a potential sequel, should Coogler and Jordan decide to produce Sinners 2.
Additionally, you’ll notice a pre-main story sequence featuring young Sammy strumming ‘This Little Light of Mine’ on his guitar prior to any film events unfolding. This scene is revisited in various parts of the movie as a flashback.
