Amazon’s Action Movie Starring Mahershala Ali & Friends Teases Big!

As we eagerly anticipate the arrival of the MCU’s Blade reboot, starring Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali as the main character, he will instead embark on a high-octane adventure for Amazon’s upcoming film titled Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother. This production, distributed by Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures, will bring Ali together with writer and director Bassam Tariq, who was previously in contention to direct Blade. The action-packed movie is now attracting a roster of top-tier talent for its cast.

According to Deadline’s report, John Cho (known for “Searching” and “Star Trek”), Abubakr Ali (“Anything’s Possible”), Tramell Tillman (“Severance”), Tiffany Boone (“Mufasa: The Lion King”), Laith Nakli (“Problemista”), Adia (“Full Circle”), and Jahleel Kamara (“Nanny”) are set to join Ali in the enigmatic action thriller.

The details about the plot for the upcoming action movie, titled “Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother,” are being kept secret for now. However, it’s been suggested that the film will revolve around the character of Ali, a professional assassin grappling with an existential crisis and feelings of loneliness as he navigates his dangerous line of work. This movie is being directed by Bassam Tariq, who gained critical acclaim for his drama “Mogul Mowgli” and was one of several contenders to direct Marvel’s revamped “Blade.

What Is Going on With the MCU ‘Blade’ Reboot?

The reboot of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Blade has faced numerous setbacks, causing delays and even disappointing its lead actor Mahershala Ali. Initially announced in 2019, the project has switched directors, writers, and left fans eagerly waiting. Intriguingly, the former Blade, Wesley Snipes, reappeared in this year’s Deadpool & Wolverine production before Ali got his opportunity to portray the character.

Despite frequent claims of imminent updates on the production of the Blade reboot throughout the years, this project has recently been taken off Marvel Studios’ release schedule. However, Mahershala Ali will have a chance to demonstrate his action movie abilities in the film Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother. But, it remains to be seen whether an Amazon project could fulfill his action requirements and persuade him to abandon Blade. The future will reveal the answer.

Though he hasn’t officially premiered as Blade yet, actor Mahershala Ali has already portrayed the character on the big screen within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His voice was featured at the end of “Eternals.” Furthermore, Ali is slated to lend his voice to the animated version of the character in the forthcoming Disney+ Marvel series, “Marvel Zombies.” Dressed in white and wielding the powers of fellow Midnight Suns member Moon Knight, Blade will engage in combat against the undead in this series. It’s an intriguing prospect to envision Blade slashing through zombies in the MCU spin-off, but it’s a bit disheartening (and maybe a reflection of the chaos surrounding “Blade”) that we’ll see an alternate version of Ali’s portrayal before the main one. It has now been confirmed that “Marvel Zombies” will premiere on Disney+ in October 2025.

In an upcoming project, Mahershala Ali takes on the challenge of prehistoric creatures in “Jurassic World: Rebirth,” set for release across U.S. cinemas by Universal Pictures on July 2, 2025.
