9-1-1 Season 8 Episode 15 initially hinted at Kenneth Choi’s character, Chimey, departing from the series during a two-part contagion storyline. However, it seems that it is actually Peter Krause who will be leaving 9-1-1 instead.

Since the debut of 9-1-1 on television, Bobby has consistently led his team through thick and thin, bravely facing danger head-on (a playful nod to the pun). Regardless of the magnitude of the task, he’s proven to be unflappable, refusing to back down even when circumstances become challenging.

Despite being removed as the head of the station initially, Bobby managed to regain his previous role. Notably, neither the fans nor the 9-1-1 team seemed capable of doing without him in the long run.

Sorry, but Peter Krause is leaving 9-1-1 for good

In simple terms, the second last episode of the eighth season of the popular series 9-1-1 showed that Bobby passed away. This indicates that the actor, Peter Krause, will certainly not be returning to the show permanently.

It’s undeniably a loss. However, it was more than just a daring creative decision on an innovative series. Bobby Nash was written out in sacrifice, and he embodied this role perfectly. Just like real-life first responders who put their lives on the line daily so that others can live another day, his storyline pays tribute to them.

At 9-1-1, we honor and pay tribute to the remarkable individuals – men and women – who perform risky jobs for our safety. Creating this show is tough at times due to extended work hours, demanding stunts, and intricate disaster scenarios. We couldn’t pull it off without the teamwork among us.

In addition to solidifying matters, this statement is from a poignant letter penned by Krause for fans of the popular TV series. He stated, “Starting in October 2017, we delved into themes like grief, guilt, anger, and addiction while examining his connection with a higher power, forgiveness, and grace through him.

During his journey towards recovery, we saw him not only bond but fully immerse himself into two new families – one at the firehouse and another with Athena Grant. Here, he discovered warmth, affection, and acceptance. Additionally, there were moments of pure fun throughout this experience. It was truly a heartwarming sight.

He added, ‘I’m deeply grateful for collaborating with our technical consultant, Chief Mike Bowman, and actual firefighters. Together, we aimed to infuse authenticity and realism into my character in our grand emergency setting. I appreciate your warm words of praise, as they truly make a significant impact on me.’

I’m going to deeply miss my entire 9-1-1 team – a group of professionals whose skills are unparalleled. From the writers continuously surprising us with clever plot twists, to the directors tasked with bringing it all to life, and every outstanding guest star throughout the years, as well as Jennifer Love Hewitt and the call center crew. I’ll particularly miss my partner, Angela Bassett. Her strength, her kindness, and our shared moments – we had to separate too early. Sending lots of love.

In the closing section, it says, ‘I’m deeply missing my cherished and rowdy crew of 118 – Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, Oliver Stark, Ryan Guzman, and Anirudh Pisharody. This is a hard farewell. Keep being unruly, yet remain professional and complete the task at hand. Misfit heroes rely on each other. That’s the way we roll at our firehouse. Share this message with the next recruit. This journey has been one exhilarating ride. I express my gratitude to you all, from the bottom of my heart.’

This isn’t what Krause said originally

In the midway point of 9-1-1’s eighth season, Krause assured TopMob that none of the characters would be eliminated permanently, either directly or indirectly, thereby suggesting one of two possibilities.

“I think we’re safe and the whole 9-1-1 family will be around. I can speak to that,” he confirmed.

To put it plainly, it seems I was mistaken about the fate of the station. It’s plausible that the full script for the rest of the season wasn’t given to the cast when they made their comments, so Krause’s conviction that the station would be fine until the end might have been genuine, based on what he knew at the time.

If it wasn’t a rumor, he was trying to outsmart the fans by playing along with their speculations. For several seasons, there have been whispers about cast members departing, yet the specific character who might be affected remained uncertain. By the end of Season 8, Episode 15, it seemed as though Chimey could potentially be the one leaving the show.

How did Bobby die in Season 8?

During the second half of Season 8’s contagion storyline, Bobby managed to rescue his teammates when they were all trapped in a lab with a lethal virus. Interestingly, it wasn’t until Chimey had successfully administered the antidote that Bobby disclosed he too had contracted the virus.

In summary, earlier events found Bobby, Chimney, Hen, and Ravi trapped inside an underground lab where they’d been conducting experiments with a lethal virus following a fire incident. As the team leader, Bobby took charge by performing emergency surgery on Hen when her lung collapsed, and administering oxygen to Ravi when he lost consciousness due to an empty tank.

As a gamer, I stepped up to aid Chimney, who had fallen victim to the virus. I worked tirelessly to control its spread and dispatched Athena on a mission to recover the stolen anti-viral vial. Now, I knew Chimey wouldn’t touch that vial if he knew I was sick too, so I kept my condition hidden. As an expectant father, I made sure that Chimney’s wellbeing came first before anything else.

Afterward, spectators witnessed a tearful farewell moment between Athena and Bobby, separated by a pane of glass. Bobby shared his tragic history of overcoming addiction, burdened by the guilt of unintentionally leading to the demise of numerous individuals, among them his spouse and children.

Later on, he confided in Athena, “L.A. was meant to be my punishment, not my abode,” continuing, “Yet when you accepted the dinner invite, I found life once more.” Subsequently, viewers watched as Bobby knelt down to pray, passing away soon after.
