This summer, I’m geared up for my comeback in the boxing ring! After a long wait, I’ll be facing off against a previous world champ – it’s going to be one heck of a showdown!
Initially, when Jake Paul entered the boxing sphere, his attention was predominantly on bouts against ex-influencers and athletes transitioning from various sports. Yet, during the past two years, his focus has shifted significantly towards facing established professional boxers.
Since the shift in focus, ‘The Challenger’ has triumphantly defeated Andre August, Ryan Borland, and Mike Tyson. His ultimate ambition is to secure a world title, with rumors suggesting he was set to square off against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez during his annual Cinco De Mayo weekend battle.
In my excitement, I was all set for that anticipated match, but just when the bell was about to ring, the Mexican legend unexpectedly inked a four-fight contract with Riyadh Season. Now, it seems like Jake’s on the hunt once more, and he’s zeroed in on a new opponent!
Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. happening “this summer”
According to reports from The Ring Magazine and Mike Coppinging, the former YouTube personality who has turned professional boxer is expected to fight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a match for the middleweight division this coming summer.
39-year-old Chavez Jr., previously held the WBC middleweight championship from 2011 to 2012, before being defeated by Sergio Martinez in September 2012. This name rings a bell for Jake, as he has encountered him on the undercard of his fight against ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry.
It’s often speculated that they will face off in the boxing ring, considering that the Mexican contender matches Jake’s requirements of having a long boxing career and possessing titles at a global level.
This upcoming summer, Jake Paul is scheduled to go head-to-head with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in a cruiserweight matchup, according to information obtained by Mike Coppinger of The Ring.
Chavez last stepped into the ring in July 2024, marking his return to fighting after a hiatus since 2021.

Regarding the specific date for the upcoming fight, Coppinger hasn’t provided any clear details. All he mentions is that it will take place “this summer,” without specifying any additional information.
Moreover, Netflix won’t air the upcoming fight. Previously, they had hosted Jake’s match against Tyson and were speculated to be involved in the planned bout between Jake and Canelo. Yet, it seems they won’t participate in this particular event.
After defeating Tyson, it seems that Jake has allegedly shifted his attention towards MMA, since he hasn’t made his PFL debut yet. If he decides to fight Chavez Jr., this potential match could postpone his PFL debut again.
