As a devoted viewer of Ransom Canyon, I couldn’t help but notice the heartfelt dedication during the season finale, honoring Lori Romero. But who exactly is she, and what’s her connection to this captivating new Netflix series? From my perspective, it seems that Lori might have played a significant role behind the scenes or perhaps in the creation of this gripping TV drama we all love.
Fans of Virgin River and Yellowstone, get excited! Ransom Canyon is the newest series on your streaming service that brings together elements from both shows. The hard-nosed rancher Staten finds himself in a tough spot as an oil company wants to buy his land following the demise of his son, Randall. Meanwhile, his neighbor Quinn has harbored feelings for him for years and is growing weary of the prolonged wait.
In a turn of events, Quinn opts to pursue Davis, Staten’s arch-nemesis, leading to further discord in the town. Meanwhile, vagabond Yancy arrives in town seeking work from Cap and develops a relationship with resident Ellie. However, it soon becomes apparent that Yancy harbors a dark past which he has concealed.
The unexpected conclusion of Ransom Canyon leaves readers in awe, yet it’s the subsequent dedication that piques viewer’s interest. It transpires that Lori Romero played an indispensable role in bringing the series to life.
Netflix’s Ransom Canyon dedicated to make-up artist
The “In loving memory of Lori Romero” dedication in Ransom Canyon’s show signifies a make-up artist who passed away during the ongoing production process. Sadly, she lost her life on January 1, 2025; however, it wasn’t until February 3 that her passing was made public.
On Instagram, a touching tribute has been shared: “Sadly, we announce the death of Lori Romero, a cherished member of Local 480, who passed away recently. Born on August 10, 1963, in Albuquerque, NM, where she spent her entire life, Lori joined our ranks nine years ago, showcasing her exceptional skills in top-tier makeup and hair styling within the film industry. Her artistry and passion were irreplaceable gems in our community.
“Remembered for her contagious laughter and selfless nature, Lori was beloved by all. She will forever be cherished for her immense kindness and the happiness she spread among those around her.
A memorial service has been arranged for January 18th at New Beginnings Church of God in Albuquerque, as it was here that the movie Ransom Canyon was shot (not in Texas). The makeup artist played a crucial role behind the scenes during filming. Romero leaves behind her son Julian Anzures, sister Annette, and brother-in-law Martin Costanza.
Before diving into Ransom Canyon, Romero was recognized for her contributions to The Harder They Fall, Deadly Illusions, T@gged, The Best Man, End of the Road, Finch, and The Marksman. Notably, she’d been busy with the upcoming project, Coyote vs. Acme, which I can hardly wait to see!
Right now, you can stream Ransom Canyon on Netflix! If you’re looking for more great shows, consider checking out similar series like Virgin River. Additionally, explore new TV shows streaming this month, top picks of the year so far, and highly anticipated 2025 releases that are not to be missed.
