2025’s Celebration Japan launched with a flair, showcasing never-before-seen clips and backstage snaps during their opening panel featuring ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’. This marked the commencement of the event.
At a recent event, Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni offered fans an exclusive preview of “The Mandalorian & Grogu”. In addition to this, attendees were given their first glimpse of Zeb Orrelios, who is set to appear in the film. His appearance was confirmed for December 2024 after making his live-action debut in “The Mandalorian” Season 3. Favreau shared that the movie will feature extensive sets, including a Walker, and will be presented in IMAX format. The official release date for the film has been announced: it will hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
At the Star Wars Celebration panel, Sigourney Weaver and Pedro Pascal, both set to appear in the upcoming film, unveiled sneak peeks of footage featuring Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt (Jabba’s son), and a fresh on-set photo. In an interview about her role, Weaver shared that the prospect of interacting with little Grogu was likely what drew her to the project. She described her character as someone in a position of authority, who sends the Mandalorian on a mission to the Outer Rim, where all the dangerous events take place.
Star Wars: Starfighter Begins Production in Fall 2025
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I was left reeling by the stunning announcement about director Levy’s upcoming masterpiece, titled “Star Wars: Starfighter”. This film, set to captivate us all, boasts Ryan Gosling in the lead role and takes place post-“Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker”. What sets this film apart is that it’s a standalone production, offering a unique perspective within the Star Wars universe. Levy has recently shared that “Star Wars: Starfighter” commences filming this autumn and is scheduled for release on May 28, 2027 – a date not far from the premiere of “The Mandalorian & Grogu”.
Although the next film installment from the franchise isn’t due until 2026, fans can still look forward to watching Season 2 of Andor, set to premiere on April 22; Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld, releasing May 04; and Star Wars: Visions‘ third season, scheduled for some time in 2025.
The next movie in the series isn’t out until 2026, but fans can enjoy Season 2 of Andor (April 22), Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld (May 04), and a new season of Star Wars: Visions (2025) in the meantime.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu will be released on May 22, 2026.
