Ryan Gosling and Shawn Levy’s ‘Star Wars’ Film Officially Titled ‘Star Wars: Starfighter,’ Sets May 2027 Theatrical Release

It’s confirmed that Ryan Gosling will embark on an interstellar journey to a distant galaxy for a new “Star Wars” movie titled “Star Wars: Starfighter.” Shawn Levy will be directing this film, and production is expected to begin in the fall with a release date set by Disney for May 28, 2027.

Following several rumors about Gosling and Levy’s involvement in a “Star Wars” production, Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, along with Dave Filoni, chief creative officer, announced their plans during the annual Star Wars Celebration event on Friday morning. This upcoming standalone movie will center around fresh characters within the “Star Wars” universe and is expected to take place approximately five years after the events depicted in “Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker,” which marked the end of the Skywalker saga and currently serves as the last chronological feature film in the “Star Wars” timeline.
