Mario Kart World Switch 2 Bundle Will Be Discontinued This Fall

In this week’s Mario Kart World-centric live broadcast, Nintendo emphasized a crucial point about the console package that includes the Switch 2 and comes with the game: This special bundle will only be available up until Fall 2025. Nintendo initially disclosed its limited availability during the Switch 2 Direct earlier this month; however, due to preorder delays and debates surrounding game costs, this essential aspect has garnered less attention than expected.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly waiting for Nintendo to set a concrete release date for the Switch 2 bundle, but it seems like we might not be seeing it on store shelves this upcoming holiday season. The word is out that production will cease by Fall 2025, which could potentially mean a scarcity of the Switch 2, even without considering the bundle.

To make matters more challenging, recent weeks have seen an escalation in stock availability concerns due to the new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. This has made it increasingly difficult to find the original Switch, let alone the rumored Switch 2, in stores across the US this year.

During the 15-minute live stream for Mario Kart World, Nintendo didn’t mention the upcoming Switch 2 console directly. Instead, they focused on confirming its limited availability for the bundle, while also revealing some thrilling details about the game itself. For instance, Battle Mode is making a comeback and there was an in-depth presentation of the new costume and meal systems within the game. As of now, we’re still unsure when preorders for the console will be available in the United States and Canada.

Mario Kart World launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, the same day as the console.
