Currently, Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron have built successful careers beyond their initial fame. Yet, reminiscing about their “High School Musical” days often crosses my mind. Therefore, whenever a nostalgic throwback surfaces featuring the actors who played Tory and Gabriella, the child in me who grew up on Disney Channel can’t help but rejoice. Consequently, I find myself celebrating after catching sight of Hudgens’ recent Instagram story.
The new mom shared a clip of her song “Say OK” on her Instagram stories, and it includes the Baywatch actor. While the only comment on the story refers to the now dated hairstyle, the two of them are featured prominently in the footage. The fun heart-fluttering flashback originally came from velvetcoke’s IG post that featured many other top pop girls of the time. However, Hudgens intentionally sharing her video with Efron is too good, take a look at the story below:
Indeed, the fad of side-bangs seems to be quite prevalent, much like this relationship we once shared. Regrettably, its time has passed us by. Yet, I can’t help but reminisce about those times with a warm and fuzzy feeling. To be honest, seeing Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron together, both on screen and in reality, was a significant cultural milestone for me and many others who grew up with the Disney Channel. It’s incredibly nostalgic to revisit that era now.
Reflecting on Hudgens’ recent post, it brings back memories of the enjoyable times she and Efron likely shared during the filming of the High School Musical films from 2007, which still remain entertaining to watch, along with their co-stars.
The films they starred in, that you can still watch with a Disney+ subscription, significantly launched their careers and their real-life relationship was a popular topic. Despite parting ways years ago, they’ve maintained minimal interaction since then. Yet, their time together continues to hold a significant place in the hearts of Disney Channel fans, including myself, as a symbol of pop culture royalty from our childhood.

Sharpay Is Actually The Heroine Of The High School Musical Series And I Stand By That
After approximately 15 years since they parted ways, it’s fascinating to observe how both individuals have embarked on numerous captivating journeys.
Efron has been a consistent presence on the big screen over the past few years. Last year, he took on leading roles in “Ricky Stanicky” and “A Family Affair,” and the year prior, he received critical acclaim for “The Iron Claw.” This current year sees him appearing in the 2025 TV lineup due to his guest role in “The Studio.
Last year, Hudgens and her husband Cole Tucker became parents for the first time. The birth took place in a hospital, but they weren’t thrilled about the paparazzi around. Now, as a family of three, the actress and singer are planning to work on “The Black Kaiser,” a project inspired by the Dark Horse graphic novel “Polar” written by Victor Santos.
In summary, I’m thoroughly fond of everything they have going on, and I’m eagerly anticipating what they’ll do next. Even though it’s been quite some time since my Disney Channel era, there’s always a spark of excitement in me when they talk about their legendary collaboration from the 2000s and 2010s.
