The trailer for the second season of “The Sandman” has been released, yet it doesn’t feature any references to Neil Gaiman, the series’ creator, due to numerous sexual misconduct accusations leveled against him.
In August 2023, The Sandman made its debut on Netflix, receiving widespread praise from critics. The series boasted an impressive 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In this new take on Neil Gaiman’s original graphic novels, the main character, Morpheus, is portrayed by Tom Sturridge. The narrative journeys through various realms and time periods as Morpheus endeavors to rectify the past injustices that have befallen him.
Through the release of a fresh trailer, we’ve got an insight into both the timing and manner in which The Sandman Season 2 will be available for streaming. However, it’s worth noting that the content does not disclose any details about the mastermind behind the scenes.
Why The Sandman Season 2 trailer ignores Neil Gaiman
As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but feel proud when talking about the first season of Sandman. The trailer loudly announces it as the creation of visionary author, none other than me – Neil Gaiman. And let’s not forget, the fine print below assures viewers that Sandman is not just any series; it’s developed and executive produced by yours truly. It’s also worth mentioning that this captivating story is based on the award-winning DC comic book series I wrote.
However, neither the video trailer for Season 2 nor its accompanying description credits a writer.
In the gaming world, I’ve noticed my favorite show on Netflix, “The Master,” has been missing from my screen since last July. It turns out that the creator, Gaiman, is facing some serious accusations of sexual misconduct in a podcast and an article in New York Magazine. These allegations are so severe that he’s being sued now. Given these circumstances, it makes sense that Netflix would want to distance themselves from his name for the time being. I just hope this doesn’t mean we won’t get more of “The Master” in the future.
Final Sandman season will have a new release schedule
After the recent allegations, Allan Heinberg, the showrunner of Sandman, released a statement explaining why Season 2 would be its last: “The Sandman series has primarily centered around the tale of Dream, and in 2022, upon examining the remaining Dream material from the comics, we realized that there was sufficient storyline for only one more season.
We’re deeply appreciative to Netflix for reuniting our team and granting us the opportunity to create an authentic adaption. We aim to astonish and captivate both long-time comic book enthusiasts and followers of our series with this project.
Through the latest trailer update, we’ve learned that unlike the first season, the upcoming second and last season won’t be released all at once. Instead, it will be divided into two parts. The initial part, consisting of six episodes, is set to premiere on July 3, 2025, while the remaining five episodes in the second part are scheduled for release on July 24, 2025.
