In an exciting development for Outlast Trials fans, the upcoming update scheduled for April 22 will mark the game’s initial exploration into user-generated content (UGC). Players will now have the opportunity to craft and distribute their very own missions using the Trial Maker tools provided. These self-made challenges can be enjoyed solo or in a cooperative setting. This update is part of Project Relapse, which followed the narrative update on April 8, where players could join forces with Amelia, a former prisoner, to stage an escape from the Murkoff Facility and sabotage its operations. However, spoiler alert: their daring escape doesn’t go as planned, and this season is focused on exacting retribution upon the players by the game’s main antagonist, Dr. Easterman, for their defiant actions.
Introducing a formidable new foe, known as The Jaeger – a sinister blend of human and machine, bearing a chilling resemblance to Amelia. Easterman appears to have utilized the fallen hero’s likeness in its design. Regarding sensitive content, developers of The Outlast Trials have included an option for players to blur nudity depictions, following requests from users due to the game’s explicit sexual content, which has been known to trigger content warnings on platforms such as Twitch and YouTube.
In the finale of The Outlast Trials, changes are being made with compelling narrative explanations to back them up. Instead of ending the “Rebirth” protocol that would grant player-characters their freedom, Easterman has introduced the Relapse Initiative instead. This new feature becomes accessible to players who reach the maximum therapy level, which is rising from 75 to 99 with Season 3. The Relapse Initiative can be thought of as similar to prestiging in Call of Duty. Players who decide to participate will start over at level 1, but they’ll get to pick one of several permanent upgrades and other rewards for doing so.
In the latest user-generated content (UGC) feature of the game, users now have the ability to design missions using their unique Trials, MK-Challenges, and Variators. They can then distribute these mission creations within the gaming community for others to attempt. Given the game’s toughness up until this point, it seems that players might prove to be even more challenging towards one another.
Alongside the freshly crafted user-created stages, Season 3 brings a novel map, named “The Suburbs.” This map will feature a primary mission, known as a Trial, and two shorter missions, which take the shape of MK-Challenges.
On April 22, all these additions will be incorporated into The Outlast Trials as part of its latest free expansion for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 systems.
