Ben Affleck is excited to have Jon Bernthal rejoin him in his upcoming action film “The Accountant 2,” yet he’s not interested in reviving Bernthal’s character from “Daredevil,” The Punisher, also known as Frank Castle.
In a recent conversation with CinemaBlend, Ben Affleck, who starred as the title character in the 2003 film “Daredevil”, talked about how Marvel has transformed into the powerful box office giant we recognize today. He also expressed his opinions regarding Marvel’s latest series, “Daredevil: Born Again”, where Jon Bernthal reprises his role as The Punisher.
Affleck praised his interpretation of the Punisher: “His portrayal is excellent,” he said. Regarding Daredevil, he found the story captivating: “It was quite intriguing,” he added. He noted that this production occurred before Kevin Feige took over as Marvel’s leader. With Feige at the helm, he brought a consistent tone to these movies, which helped answer the challenge of balancing humor, action, and superhero elements in a believable way. This period coincided with advancements in visual effects technology, allowing for more convincing special effects.
He went on to say, “It paved the way for talented actors such as himself to excel and truly accomplish the task. There’s a new Daredevil now, I haven’t had a chance to watch it, but I’m a big fan of the character, I hope he does well, but I wouldn’t want to cross paths with his Punisher.
Following Ben Affleck’s portrayal of the Marvel hero, Netflix transformed the comic about a lawyer who becomes a crime fighter despite being blind into a TV series. This series ran for three seasons from 2015-2018. Later, in March, it was revived as “Daredevil: Born Again,” now streaming on Disney+.
