Asmongold wants “exploitative” VTuber orgs to ‘die’ as Gawr Gura leaves Hololive

Streamer Asmongold expresses his hope that Virtual YouTuber organizations, like the one Gawr Gura departed from due to disagreements with the agency, will cease to exist in the future.

In an April 16 live stream, Gawr Gura revealed she’ll be “graduating” from Hololive on May 1.

The VTuber mentioned “disputes with management and differences in business strategy” as her motivation for leaving, stating that this decision had been a “matter of time.

In reaction to the recent news, popular Twitch streamer Asmongold, along with his former OTK companion Tectone, voiced their opinions, labeling Virtual YouTuber organizations as exploitative and suggesting that Gawr Gura’s case is merely the surface of a larger issue.

Asmongold calls out VTuber orgs for ‘exploiting’ talent

After Gawr Gura’s declaration, Tectone published a sequence of messages on platform X, where they criticized the agencies for making “exploitative” deductions from creators’ earnings.

“Things need to change. VTubers deserve better,” he said.

Asmongold also joined the conversation, expressing his hope that these organizations cease to exist and suggesting that VTubers might want to look into alternative job paths.

Instead of conventional organizations and streaming agencies, vtuber-focused organizations are frequently criticized for being exploitative. This can be traced back to the management style of idol groups that is prevalent in Japan.
