Shroud heaps praise on RuneScape Dragonwilds but has one big problem with it

I, being an avid gamer, dived into the thrilling world of RuneScape Dragonwilds, Jagex’s innovative survival co-op game, on April 15. After devoting a solid four hours to this Early Access title, I’m ready to share my firsthand impressions.

On April 15, Dragonwilds was mysteriously added to Steam during the developer’s extensive Twitch live stream. During its initial 24 hours, it attracted a staggering 41,270 players simultaneously, with popular streamer Shroud among them.

Approximately halfway through his nine-hour live gameplay session, the streamer paused to express his initial impressions of the game following his initial exploration of the world of Ashenfall.

Shroud’s first impressions of RuneScape Dragonwilds

It seems they mentioned the game has around 15 to 25 hours of content, varying based on your speed. That’s quite impressive considering it only costs $30, he commented when asked for his initial thoughts during the stream.

The game didn’t blow me away initially, but it’s definitely different from the norm. Typically, when you start playing an Early Access survival game, you think ‘Wow, this game is terrible, I need to wait six years until it improves.’ However, that’s not the case with this game. The game is quite decent even at launch and will only get better. It has a strong foundation.

In a generally favorable manner, Shroud acknowledged encountering poor technical performance as an issue, expressing it bluntly by saying, “It does operate rather poorly, however.

Jagex plans to launch the complete version of Dragonwilds in the year 2026. They’ve also shared an extensive plan detailing upcoming content, which includes fresh skills and quests, continuous enhancements to combat efficiency, performance, and challenge level.

At present, players possess the ability to utilize seven distinct skills, each capped at level 49. For a comprehensive understanding of each skill, methods for leveling them up, and the rewards they offer, refer to our detailed guide. Additionally, if you haven’t already done so, I recommend checking out our interview with Dragonwilds’ Executive Producer for additional insights.
