As a movie enthusiast based in Berlin, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve gained exclusive rights for global distribution of “Drunken Noodles,” the newest creation by Lucio Castro – an Argentinian director now residing in New York City.
An unusual, sensual story in the English language is set to debut for the first time at the ACID section of Cannes next month.
In the vicinity of New York City and the rural areas beyond it, the story “Drunken Noodles” centers around Adnan, a young artist who spends his summer in the city while apartment-sitting. He lands an internship at a gallery showcasing an eccentric older artist he had previously met. As memories from his past and present start to overlap, a sequence of experiences – some artistic and others sensual – reveal fissures in Adnan’s everyday life.
M-Appeal’s managing director, Maren Kroymann, praised Lucio’s filmmaking as both classy and stirring. She was impressed by the movie ‘Drunken Noodles’, noting its polished cinematography and powerful sense of ambiance. It is a work of art that is also easy to understand, and she anticipates that viewers will find it equally enthralling.”

“According to M-Appeal’s managing director, Maren Kroymann, Lucio’s filmmaking is both graceful and thought-provoking. The movie ‘Drunken Noodles’ captivated them with its sophisticated visuals and compelling atmosphere. It’s a blend of artistry and accessibility, and they expect audiences to feel the same way.
In this U.S.-Argentine production, Laith Khalifeh takes on the lead roles, while Ezriel Kornel, Matthew Risch, and Joél Isaac lend their support.
This is his third feature film. His first film, titled “End of the Century,” was initially presented at New Directors/New Films in 2019 and went on to win the award for best Argentine film at BAFICI. More recently, his production “After This Death” had its premiere earlier this year as part of Berlinale’s Special Gala section.
‘Drunken Noodles’ delves into how seemingly insignificant interactions can have a significant impact on our lives,” Castro shared with EbMaster. “I’m thrilled about collaborating with M-Appeal; their enthusiasm for vibrant, visually striking films makes them the perfect fit to share this tale with film enthusiasts globally.
The movie was made by Castro and Barton Cortright from Alsina 427, along with co-producers Joanne Lee and Julia Bloch.
M-Appeal will launch sales at the Cannes Film Market.
