In the updated edition of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, you can expect the mythical horse armor to make a comeback.

Based on recent leaks, there are rumors about an upcoming remaster (or remake) of Bethesda’s popular RPG that hasn’t been officially announced yet. Yesterday, we reported that not only the project details but also the release dates and content seem to have been accidentally disclosed from the Virtuos studio’s website. To our surprise, it appears that the special edition of this game will feature horse armor among its contents.

The legendary armor featured in the fourth TES installment has generated extensive discussion to the point where a scholarly article could be compiled on the topic. For numerous gamers, this high-priced DLC served as an early instance of unnecessary content that failed to enhance gameplay fun, paving the way for the perceived issue with in-game microtransactions. However, it’s worth noting that this controversy did not seem to impact the sales of the expansion, based on recent reports from the developers.

Adding this substantial DLC to the revamped edition of Oblivion brought delight to some gamers, even though others argue that the horse armor from TES 4 holds a significant place in video game lore. For example, Philipp Weber from CD Projekt RED studio (via X) casually mentions his own “seasonal” modification for The Witcher series’ second installment. In this mod, along with various hats, tans, and beavers, horse armor was also included—though it should be noted that this was indeed an April Fool’s prank.

In addition to the extra content from the “cult” DLC, the Deluxe version of the remastered Oblivion promises exclusive weapons. It seems that the game is rumored to be released next week, but there’s no official confirmation as yet.
