Misunderstanding about free copies of Runescape Dragonwilds. Community manager explains players’ confusion

In the realm of MMORPGs, RuneScape is undeniably one of the most renowned franchises. Therefore, it’s no surprise when a new game from this series creates quite a stir. The latest addition, RuneScape Dragonwilds, was just released and has already garnered over 40,000 concurrent players – an impressive number indeed. Despite being a paid game, unlike the original MMORPG which can be played without any financial investment, some players are under the impression that they were entitled to receive it for free. Is this claim accurate?

Community Manager explains RuneScape Dragonwilds free copies issues

With the unveiling of RuneScape Dragonwilds, a few players started questioning where their complimentary game copies are. This confusion arises because it was widely believed among players that those who participated in the Alpha tests would receive a free copy upon release. There have been claims on the official Discord channel by some individuals that certain testers were given free access codes. To dispel this misunderstanding, the community manager felt it necessary to address the situation.

In the alpha testing phase, no one received the game for gratis. After the final alpha test, all testers had their access keys deactivated as a safety measure.

It appears that there are no complimentary versions of the game available at the moment. This might seem puzzling given that RuneScape is generally a free-to-play game. However, it’s important to note that this specific payment model was not applied in the recent survival project developed by Jagex Ltd.

Just a heads-up: Currently, the games don’t offer dedicated servers or console compatibility. But keep in mind, this could potentially change down the line!
