Stan Lee’s Daughter Denies Past Elder Abuse Allegations: ‘I Never Ever Touched My Parents’

J.C. Lee, Stan Lee’s daughter, has refuted past accusations that she mistreated her parents during their later years, labeling them as “false.

In a recent conversation with Business Insider, the child of the Marvel Comics icon firmly refuted allegations that she mistreated or harmed Stan Lee and his wife, Joan. She asserted, “I have never physically interacted with my parents in such a manner.

Approximately four months prior to Stan Lee’s passing in November 2018, The Hollywood Reporter released an exposé containing accusations of elder abuse against him. These alleged abusers included business partners and J.C. Lee herself. The article portrayed Stan and J.C.’s relationship as volatile, with J.C. becoming violent when her financial demands weren’t fulfilled. One such instance was reported in 2014, where she is said to have physically assaulted her parents upon discovering that her new Jaguar had been leased under her father’s name instead of hers.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, J.C. Lee is alleged to have forcefully grabbed her mother’s arm, causing a visible bruise and, additionally, pushed Stan Lee’s head against the back of a chair. According to The Hollywood Reporter, they had photographs of this incident. However, the elder Lees decided not to contact the police due to J.C.’s reported emotional vulnerability.

J.C. Lee conveyed to Business Insider that although she frequently yelled at her parents, she never resorted to physical violence against them. She chose not to refute the claims publicly when the article was published, but now wishes she had. “It’s all false,” she declared. “That picture is utterly preposterous. I’ve never been involved in such an act.

As reported by Business Insider, five individuals who were acquainted with Stan Lee during that period stated they did not observe any instances of abuse coming from J.C. Lee.

Following a THR investigation, Stan Lee’s business manager, Keya Morgan, faced accusations. These included one felony count of unlawful confinement of an elderly person, three felony counts of stealing from an elderly individual, and one misdemeanor count of abusing an elder. However, prior to his trial in November 2022, the charges of elder abuse and false imprisonment were dismissed. During the trial, the theft allegations against him were also dropped when the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict.

Following Stan Lee’s passing, POW! Entertainment acquired the rights to his name, image, and creative works. In 2019, J.C. Lee filed a lawsuit aiming to reclaim these rights, but the case was thrown out. Then, in 2020, Kartoon Studios partnered with POW! for a venture called the Stan Lee Universe, managing the rights to Lee’s likeness and merchandising deals. In 2023, J.C. Lee once more took legal action against POW!, accusing them of questionable transactions that decreased her ownership share in the company and claiming she hadn’t been fairly compensated under their earlier intellectual property contract.

According to J.C. Lee’s statement to Business Insider, she believes that in the time before his passing, her father’s companions seemed to have taken possession of almost everything.

She expressed that these individuals seem to control her life, while they dine with golden cutlery, whereas she has to settle for plastic.

Representatives for the Stan Lee Universe had no comment.
