Today, the highly anticipated medieval action RPG titled “Kingdom Come: Deliverance II” received a significant update with version 1.2.4. This new release introduces a challenging mode called Hardcore Mode along with other enhancements. Additionally, the Gallant Huntsman Kit, initially exclusive to Gold Edition owners, will now be accessible as a paid downloadable content (DLC) for standard edition players.
In the latest update (Version 1.2.4) for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, a challenging new gameplay mode called “Hardcore Mode” has been introduced. This mode does not include a compass and eliminates fast travel options. Additionally, players must choose three permanent negative traits at the start of the game. By popular demand Kingdom Come: Deliverance II now has the option for Hardcore Mode.
In this new game version, your position on the map won’t be continuously displayed, without a compass or quick travel options to aid you. Additionally, at the beginning of the game, players must choose three enduring unfavorable traits, such as Bad Back limiting your carrying capacity, Somnambulant causing random wake-ups in different locations, and Hangry Henry who has an increased fixation on food compared to normal.
The new design is a progression from the mode present in the initial Kingdom Come: Deliverance, aimed at enhancing player engagement and providing a more realistic gaming experience.
As an avid admirer, I can share that Karel Kolmann, the seasoned game designer at Warhorse Studios, articulated their intention to elevate the Hardcore Mode to match its greatness from the initial game, yet avoid simply replicating it.
In our latest update, we’ve retained a few advantages from the initial game while introducing fresh ones to create an entirely new set of difficulties. It’s not solely focused on increasing the game’s difficulty; instead, we aim to enhance its immersion as well.
In the previous version of Hardcore Mode, we stripped down features like showing your position on the map and providing a compass, but this time, we’ve taken it a step further. We’ve introduced an option to query various NPCs about your location in the game world, making the experience feel more realistic. Now, you can encounter fellow travelers on the road and ask them for directions as well.

For those who didn’t get the chance to acquire the Gallant Huntsman Kit (included in the Gold Edition), which they might have missed out on if they only bought the standard version, fear not! This coveted set is still available for purchase as a separate Downloadable Content (DLC).
