The main story revolves around Broadway sensation and self-absorbed individual Richard Bean (Kline), who experiences a dramatic downfall in the spotlight, and subsequently returns to his roots and the community theater that initially ignited his recognition of his exceptional talent.

Upon his arrival, he’s taken aback to find that his father, who used to be the artistic director, isn’t as spry anymore. Worse yet, the esteemed theater, now managed by his brother Jon (Tenney) and his wife (Linney), has been forced to transform into a budget dinner theater offering roast beef and murder mystery shows. Determined to rescue the town, the theater, and even the world, he plans to stage a renowned American classic on this humble stage, with Richard Bean directing and starring in it.

As a passionate cinephile, I find myself drawn to the captivating character of Kristen Forrest Bean, who spent her formative years gracing the stage at the Millersburg Festival Theater, a cherished family legacy. At the tender age of 19, I fell head over heels for Richard Bean and impulsively followed him to the bustling cityscape of New York, hoping to share in his dreams. However, it was Richard’s inflated ego that flourished, while my quiet determination seemed to falter. His career took off like a rocket, leaving me feeling increasingly disillusioned. In the end, I returned home to the tranquil embrace of Millersburg, where I found solace in marrying Richard’s younger brother, Jon, and welcoming our beautiful daughter Miranda into the world. Now, as the newly appointed Mayor of Millersburg, I channel my unwavering passion and pragmatic nature to ensure that the beloved family theater continues to thrive.
