Dune: Awakening Delayed, Beta Now Coming In May

Funcom has revealed that the debut of Dune: Awakening, their upcoming open-world survival game in the sprawling deserts of the Dune universe, is being pushed back by three weeks, from May 20th to June 10th. To make up for this, a “beta weekend” has been scheduled for next month as a precursor to the full release.

Funcom shared news about a brief postponement on their official Steam page’s blog post. The article mentioned that the delay was due to constructive feedback they received from players participating in the ongoing closed beta test, which they referred to as “crucial for ensuring we can release a high-quality game.

The article states, “Due to this procedure, we’ve found out that by allowing a little more baking time, we can address more of the crucial feedback our beta testers have shared with us. This is not a choice made casually; everyone is eager to start playing, but these additional three weeks will grant us the necessary time to implement enhancements aimed at delivering an optimal gaming experience from the get-go.

The article additionally revealed plans for a “major beta testing event” happening “in the upcoming month.” During this period, a greater number of participants will be granted access to the game, allowing them to share their insights in the game’s official Discord channel. Unfortunately, no particular dates were provided for this beta test event.

Dune: Awakening” is a survival game in an open-world, based on the desert planet Arrakis from Dune. In this game, players can create various items, such as ornithopters and eventually fortresses, and they’ll come across sandworms and other creatures while scavenging for precious blue spice.
