Twitch Gives Streamers a Lifeline with Deadline Extension

Twitch recently announced changes to their platform that some streamers have criticized, as these alterations are set to roll out soon.

Despite other competitors emerging, Twitch continues to lead the pack in the realm of live streaming, boasting some of the industry’s biggest personalities, preferred features for streamers, and an unrivaled level of recognition.

Since competitors have emerged and aimed to dethrone Twitch, the magenta platform has been compelled to innovate and make some adjustments. They now enable streamers to broadcast simultaneously across multiple platforms, have reinstated channels that were previously banned indefinitely, and have begun to provide more clarity regarding reasons for suspensions.

Nevertheless, not every change has been met with approval. In late February, Twitch declared a new policy that restricts streamers to store only up to 100 hours of highlights and VODs on their channels.

The storage-related modification, swiftly criticized by figures like Kai Cenat, has sparked concern among some users who fear they may not be able to save all their saved highlights in a timely manner.

Indeed, the Amazon-controlled platform is now adjusting the situation by providing them with additional time for organizing their affairs.

They announced that the due date has been pushed back to May 19th, 2025 on April 14. They acknowledged that this adjustment might be challenging, but they’ve made enhancements to speed up downloads, simplify exports, and increased the bulk selection range from 20 to 100 items to facilitate easier downloading and deletion of your highlighted materials.

Originally, the due date was scheduled for April 19th, which left some broadcasters frustrated because they felt compelled to hasten their work to make that deadline.

NickAstalos expressed gratitude for the improvements made in the last week, stating, ‘I’m wrapping things up now,’ but also conveyed concerns about the rollout of these changes. He emphasized that it seemed as though you were not fully prepared for this transition and failed to provide adequate notice or highlights.

LevelUpYourGame recently stated, “I erased more than ten years worth of VODs because I wasn’t permitted to make a highlights reel from my stream unless I did that first. Now, almost two months have passed and there’s an extension available? Incredible!
