As a dedicated cinema enthusiast, I’m sharing some intriguing news: Cate Blanchett, the illustrious two-time Oscar winner known for her roles in “The Aviator” and “Blue Jasmine,” has hinted at stepping away from acting someday. Although retirement isn’t on the horizon just yet, she’s indicated that there will come a time when she hangs up her acting shoes, according to an upcoming issue of Radio Times as reported by The Standard.
Blanchett expressed that despite her family’s skepticism, she genuinely intends to quit acting. She has many aspirations for the future and wants to explore various aspects of life.
More recently, Cate Blanchett shared the screen with Michael Fassbender in Steven Soderbergh’s critically acclaimed espionage drama “Black Bag.” This film has grossed $21 million in the U.S. box office. In an interview with a publication, she expressed that she’s grown accustomed to feeling uneasy under public scrutiny as a renowned actor, stating, “I’ve spent a lifetime learning to be at ease with the discomfort of being in the limelight.
In interviews, whether on talk shows or now, when clips of my words are emphasized and highlighted, they seem quite dramatic. However, I’m not that kind of person. I express myself better through action – it takes a while for me to get used to being constantly photographed.” (Blanchett)
She mentioned that, despite being well-known, she’s often taken aback when she feels a sense of belonging. She approaches every setting with a keen interest, never anticipating acceptance or warmth.
At the Rotterdam Film Festival this year, during a recent interview, Blanchett shared that she once doubted her ability to make a career in the movie business.
She found contentment, joyfully, in pursuing a career in theater, but she never saw herself as the stereotypical leading lady. She commented further that there was an unspoken rule in Hollywood about the limited time women had to shine and only certain types of women were given the opportunity to be spotlighted.
Actress Cate Blanchett will soon share the screen with Adam Driver in director Jim Jarmusch’s upcoming film titled “Father, Mother, Sister, Brother”. The movie also features Vicky Krieps, Mayim Bialik, Tom Waits, Charlotte Rampling, Indya Moore, and Luka Sabbat as part of the supporting cast. Notably, Blanchett has been appearing on the West End in a brand-new adaptation of Anton Chekov’s “The Seagull”.
