Advance Wars Lookalike Game Warside Is Out Now

The strategy game Warside, resembling Advance Wars, has been released on PC by Lavabird (developer) and First Break Labs (publisher). Nevertheless, players have noted some issues and an incomplete feel to it, mirroring its predominantly negative reviews at this time.

Warside bears a striking resemblance, bordering on identical, to Advance Wars, especially when it comes to their maps, buildings, battles, and troops. The similarities are quite evident, suggesting they hail from the same Nintendo tactics series. What sets Warside apart is that its Commanders feature a more authentic pixel art design compared to the anime style used in Advance Wars.

Based on feedback from Steam reviews, it appears that the game, Warside, is lacking several promised features and gameplay elements. One player noted that the game seems more like an early access release, as neither multiplayer lobbies nor local multiplayer functionality are present, despite these features being advertised as available.

A fellow gamer pointed out that there’s a problem with the game’s economy, as the necessary funds for buying troops aren’t accessible. Yet, it appears the developers have promptly addressed this concern and resolved the issue.

Apart from Warside, there are other titles striving to embody the essence of the Game Boy Advance era, with Dark Deity 2 being one such example, drawing inspiration from Fire Emblem games popular during that timeframe.

Currently, Warside is offering a 10% reduction on its launch price. It’s set to arrive on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox at a future time.
