Six actors have been chosen for the initial cast of the Harry Potter television series. Five of them are already established in their careers, but one, Luke Thallon, is less familiar to many.
This upcoming summer, the much-anticipated Harry Potter series will commence filming in the United Kingdom. Each installment will concentrate on a distinct academic year in the magical life of Harry Potter.
HBO has revealed its lineup for six characters, with John Lithgow taking on the role of Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, Nick Frost cast as Hagrid, Paapa Essiedu assigned to Severus Snape, and Paul Whitehouse portraying Argus Filch.
In the upcoming “Harry Potter” series, the newcomer among the six main actors is Luke Thallon, who will be gracing our TV screens for the first time. Here’s what we currently know about this promising talent on the rise.
Luke Thallon will play Professor Quirinus Quirrel in Harry Potter

In the upcoming Harry Potter television series, it’s been announced that Luke Thallon will be stepping into the role of Professor Quirinus Quirrell, a part previously portrayed by David Thewlis in the movie “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
If you don’t often visit London’s West End, it’s likely that you haven’t come across Thallon’s work. He briefly appeared as ‘Abigail’s soldier’ in The Favorite, but apart from that, Thallon has primarily found success on stage, appearing in some of the most critically-acclaimed productions over the past few years.
In his last academic year, Thallon graced the stage in Mike Bartlett’s 2017 play, Albion, at the Almeida Theatre. This performance earned him a nomination for the Evening Standard Rising Star award.
In the dual characters of Fritz and Leo within Patrick Marber’s staging of Tom Stoppard’s Leopoldstadt, he garnered even greater recognition, ultimately earning the Clarence Derwent award for his performance.
Lately, Thallon has been highly praised for his portrayal of Roman Abramovich, the ex-owner of Chelsea, in Peter Morgan’s film titled “Patriots.

At present, he’s taking on the major role of Hamlet. Notably, he’s joining a distinguished lineage that includes David Tennant, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, and future Harry Potter collaborator Paapa Essiedu, as they have all portrayed Hamlet for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Despite his busy theater career, Thallon has been expressing interest in transitioning to television or film. He told Deadline, “I’d love to appear on-screen. Yes, really. While I don’t dismiss opportunities, I’m simply waiting for the prospect of screen work to be as thrilling and rewarding as my current stage roles.
As a gamer, I’d be thrilled to step into Quirinus Quirrell’s shoes for a while. His role promises an exhilarating journey and personal satisfaction. Although I can’t give away his storyline here, the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor in the first book/season of this tale has a captivating narrative arc that I can’t wait to explore!
As an avid Harry Potter fan, I’m excited to share my thoughts on who could potentially play Severus Snape in future adaptations. One name that stands out is Paapa Essiedu, whose acting skills and versatility make him a compelling choice for the complex character of Snape. Meanwhile, rumors about a possible movie adaptation of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child are circulating, but until official announcements are made, we’ll keep you updated on any new developments.
