On Saturday, a reunion took place among the original five members of “The Breakfast Club”, exactly 40 years after they were all brought together in detention as troublemakers at Shermer High School.
At a pop culture event in Chicago called C2E2, Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, and Anthony Michael Hall came together for a panel discussion about John Hughes’ 1985 movie. The chat was facilitated by entertainment journalist Josh Horowitz. (Source: People)
Ringwald, who played popular character Claire Standish in the movie, expressed deep emotion and joy at seeing everyone gathered, saying, ‘I’m truly touched that we’re all here.’ She playfully noted the presence of Estevez, mentioning, ‘No more cardboard cutout! I genuinely feel moved that we can be together.'”

“Ringwald, who played Claire Standish in the movie, was filled with emotion and gratitude at our reunion. Jokingly referencing Estevez’s presence, she said, ‘We don’t need a cardboard cutout anymore.’ She went on to express her deep feeling of being moved that we were all together.
Estevez replied, hinting he preferred to handle it personally, and then pointed out that the event’s location in Chicago, where ‘The Breakfast Club’ was filmed, made the reunion feel particularly significant.
During the conversation, Hall and Ringwald revealed if they tried out for their “Breakfast Club” characters, as they had previously acted in Hughes’ film “Sixteen Candles” back in 1984.
Hall stated, “John contacted me momentarily and mentioned, ‘I’d like for you to drop by.’ He didn’t prepare any written instructions or provide me with one.
Previously, Hughes had planned to work on “The Breakfast Club” before he created “Sixteen Candles.” However, after penning “Sixteen Candles,” he submitted it to the studio, and they expressed a desire to produce it first.
During the making of the movie, Sheedy (who portrayed Allison Reynolds) shared insights about the strong connection the cast built throughout the filming process.
During the filming of this project, there was a palpable sense of joy among us all. If you look closely, it’s evident that we share a deep bond. It was like living a dream,” Sheedy expressed, using the term ‘wonderful experience.’
