Contrary to the common saying that imitation is the most genuine form of flattery, “White Lotus” breakout star Aimee Lou Wood might have a different perspective on this.
In the April 12 edition of “Saturday Night Live,” there was a pre-recorded skit that mimicked Mike White’s drama series. Sarah Sherman played a caricature of Wood’s character, Chelsea. On Sunday, Wood voiced her displeasure with this representation on Instagram Stories, describing it as “cruel” and “not funny.
It’s too bad because I enjoyed it so much a few weeks back,” she said. “Of course, the show is meant to be funny, but couldn’t they find a more intelligent, subtler, and less crude approach?”
Or, in a more conversational tone:
“I really liked it when I watched it a couple of weeks ago, but don’t you think there could be a smarter, more sophisticated way to make people laugh instead of always going for the cheap shot?

In a brief instant, Hamm’s character at RFK, impersonating Walton Goggins’ Rick, ponders aloud, “I’ve been having these wild thoughts, such as what if we removed all the fluoride from our drinking water? How would it affect people’s teeth?” The scene then unfolds to show Sherman’s character at Chelsea, over-emphasizing an accent and sporting oversized dentures. She queries, “What is this fluoride you speak of?
Wood shared that she was overwhelmed by “countless messages” expressing sympathy following her criticisms of the late-night comedy series. Later, she disclosed that apologies were extended to her by ‘SNL’.
