Actress Bella Thorne alleges that actor Mickey Rourke engaged in inappropriate behavior during filming, after he was embroiled in a controversy over homophobic remarks directed towards singer JoJo Siwa.
On several posts across social media platforms on Friday, Thorne alleged that during their shared work on a project (which wasn’t specifically mentioned but they collaborated on the 2020 film “Girl”), Rourke subjected her to numerous unpleasant experiences.
As a fan, I can’t help but share my discomfort over a particularly harrowing experience I had while working alongside an individual. In a chilling scene, I found myself kneeling with my hands restrained behind me. The task at hand was for another actor, Mickey, to simulate using a metal grinder on my knee cap. However, in a shocking turn of events, he decided to use it on a more sensitive area – my genitals, through the fabric of my jeans. He repeatedly struck these areas, leaving me with painful bruises on my pelvic bone. Needless to say, collaborating with Mickey was one of the most distressing acting experiences I’ve ever endured.
In another post about X, Thorne shared an account of his difficult experiences working with a certain actor named Mickey. According to Thorne, there were numerous unpleasant situations he was forced to endure on set, such as having his last scene manipulated so that Mickey could smother him in dirt by revving his engine. It seems that Mickey found humor in embarrassing Thorne in front of the entire crew. Thorne also had to go into Mickey’s trailer by himself because Mickey refused to communicate with the director or producers. In this isolated situation, it was up to Thorne to persuade Mickey to complete his duties for the movie. The production relied on Mickey, and without him, everyone’s efforts would have been wasted. Despite Thorne’s discomfort, he complied with the request to ensure the success of the film. Thorne believes that Mickey should not have put anyone in such challenging positions during the making of this movie.
In an announcement to EbMaster, a spokesperson for Rourke acknowledged receiving Bella Thorne’s statements about working with Rourke on a previous movie set, as reported by Thorne.
As a movie reviewer, I’d put it like this: “In response to recent allegations, Mr. Rourke firmly maintains his innocence regarding any deliberate misconduct. Throughout the entire filming process, he claims he was unaware of such issues and only learned about Ms. Thorne’s discomfort recently.
Rourke’s representative stated: “In light of the seriousness of the allegations and to show respect for all involved, Mr. Rourke will refrain from making additional public statements for now. However, he is open to participating in any suitable investigation via the proper authorities.
“We affirm the right of every performer to feel safe and respected in their work environment.”
In the suspenseful film titled “Girl,” Thorne and Rourke featured prominently. The plot revolves around a young woman returning to her hometown with a desire for retribution against her abusive father. However, she finds out that he had already met his end through an unknown killer. Thorne took on the lead character, while Rourke portrayed the town’s sheriff. The screenplay and direction of this movie were handled by Chad Faust, who additionally made an appearance as a character named Charmer within the film.
Thorne mentioned in another post, “Additionally, let me clarify: I’m not taking anything away from Mickey’s performance. The effort and dedication everyone else poured into that film is indisputable. It took blood, sweat, and tears for all of us to create this vision, and I am incredibly proud of every single person involved in the making of that movie.
EbMaster has reached out to Thorne and Faust’s reps for comment.
As a dedicated cinephile, I can’t help but share some recent developments from the world of reality TV. Following a formal warning on ITV’s “Celebrity Big Brother,” Rourke found himself in hot waters, after Siwa asserted that he made derogatory remarks about her, based on her sexual orientation within the show’s premises. Currently, both Rourke and Siwa are gracing our screens as contestants in the U.K. version of this popular reality competition series.
During a recent episode of “Celebrity Big Brother”, Rourke mentioned he intended to “eliminate the lesbian swiftly,” in reference to Siwa. Upon hearing this remark, the singer responded, “If that was your motive, that’s discriminatory.
Following the warning, Rourke expressed in a private conversation: “I’m sorry. I assure you I don’t have dishonorable motives. I was just joking around, as you know. I wasn’t taking things too seriously. I didn’t intend to cause harm and if I did, I apologize.” Later on, Rourke apologized to Siwa, stating that he “didn’t say it with malice.
