In the film, Megann Fahy from “The White Lotus” and Brandon Sklenar of “It Ends With Us” portray Violet and Henry, a romantic duo enjoying a delightful dinner date high above ground, seated at a restaurant within a towering skyscraper.

Nevertheless, a mysterious twist unfolds as Violet begins to receive ominous, anonymous AirDrop messages on her phone. These messages gradually escalate into threats.

Everything leads up to a fierce, time-pressured confrontation, marked by intense violence. Proceed with caution, as the following information contains spoilers that might be upsetting for some readers.

Drop ending explained

Following a harrowing experience, the conclusion of Drop turns unexpectedly optimistic, depicting Violet and Henry enjoying their initial planned date, albeit in a hospital setting while Henry recovers from his wounds.

At first glance, it appears as though Violet is once again facing a harrowing ordeal when she gets another secretive message on her phone. But then, her sister Jen enters and informs her it was just a joke. “Too early?” Jen queries. Indeed, that’s quite premature, Jen.

Fortunately, Toby, Violet’s son, escapes the ordeal at Drop without any injuries. However, you might be wondering why Henry ended up in the hospital. To clarify, let’s rewind to the start of the story.

What happened to Violet before the date?

As I settled into my seat at the latest flick, it quickly became apparent that Violet’s upcoming date with Henry marked her first romantic encounter since the tragic demise of her husband Blake. Flashbacks subtly woven into the narrative revealed a chilling portrait of Blake’s violent behavior towards Violet, which drove her to dedicate her life to helping survivors of domestic violence as a counselor.

Initially, it appeared she had shot Blake in self-defense after he brutally attacked her. But as more memories unfolded, it became clear she couldn’t bring herself to pull the trigger. Instead, Blake ended up pointing the gun at their infant son Toby, eventually shooting himself with it.

It turns out that Blake took his own life, leaving Violet to grapple with the emotional aftermath. Eventually, she felt ready to rejoin the world of dating. However, her newfound willingness is exploited by the antagonists in Drop.

Drop involves a sinister murder plot

Before Henry arrives for their date, Violet begins getting mysterious, somewhat unsettling texts on her phone from an unknown source. At first, they don’t cause too much worry.

Upon Henry’s arrival, she informs him about the liquid spots. Assuming they were merely pranks by some children, he attempts to assist her in locating the culprits, however, he was unable to do so.

The situation takes a worrying turn when the poster advises Violet to inspect her home nanny cam, where Jen is taking care of Toby. Upon doing so, she observes a masked man armed with a weapon, which leaves her visibly distressed.

In addition, a warning is given, “Maintain silence.” In other words, should Violet speak to anyone in the restaurant, it results in their demise. If she fails to comply with instructions, her sibling and child’s lives are at risk.

The individual responsible has set up hidden cameras in the restaurant, gained unauthorized access to the surveillance systems, and made a duplicate of her phone. As a result, she’s constantly being monitored.

At first, she was asked to remove the memory card containing pictures from Henry’s camera, a task she accomplished quietly. However, the subsequent assignment posed a challenge: she had to secretly put poison in Henry’s drink, a action that would lead to his demise.

Eventually, Violet manages to slip the poison into a drink, but just as Henry was about to consume it, she discovers the culprit – it was Richard, a seemingly harmless dining companion on a blind date.

In a sudden moment, she understands that he had known her name all along without her having shared it first, prompting her to approach him to verify her hunch. She tests this assumption by presenting him with one of the toxic drinks, but he declines.

Why did they want Henry killed?

During the course of their date, Henry discloses his five-year stint working for the mayor. However, it’s not until the climax of the latest film that we discover the mayor was entangled in a financial misconduct case, namely embezzlement.

Instead, Henry wasn’t comfortable with the situation, so he decided to document the proof by taking pictures, explaining why he needed the SD card for transferring these images – eventually intended for the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Richard and his associates devised a plan to have Henry eliminated, yet they were unwilling to bear the guilt of shedding blood themselves. Leveraging Violet’s troubled past, they believed they could manipulate evidence and wrongfully accuse her of the crime.

It wasn’t anticipated that Violet was always a step ahead of them. Despite giving the impression that she had drugged the drinks, in reality, she had secretly contaminated Richard’s dessert with poison instead.

By the time she informs him, it’s already past the point – the toxic substance has already seeped into his body. However, prior to his demise, chaos erupts everywhere.

The final battle 

In another scenario, Richard intends to fire at Violet, yet Henry steps in front of her and receives the gunshot instead. Moments before his demise, the menacing figure phones the assassin residing at Violet’s home, instructing him to eliminate Jen and Toby.

As a concerned fan, I hastily bandage Henry’s injury, assuring him that help is en route. With every tick of the clock, the urgency intensifies as I rush to reach my home, hoping to save my precious family from whatever peril lies ahead.

In this intense scenario, two sisters are engaged in a fierce struggle against an armed assailant, but it turns out to be Toby who steps in as the hero. As it appears that his mother is moments away from being harmed, he swiftly dispatches his remote-controlled toy truck, equipped with a hidden gun, to the rescue.

With no delay, she swiftly grabs it and fires at the attacker, ensuring eventually that Violet, Jen, and Toby were secure.

In an instant, she snatches it and discharges her weapon, resulting in their ultimate safety – Violet, Jen, and Toby.

Reaching the conclusion of Drop, we find justice triumphant. The corrupt mayor is apprehended, and Violet and Henry are able to spend their time together in their hospital room. They decide that their forthcoming rendezvous will be decidedly uneventful.
