Following the grand entrance of Gossifleur, I’m thrilled to share that Pokemon Go is introducing another Generation 8 creature: Applin! Discover how to catch this apple-like critter, along with its evolutions Flapple and Appletun, in the Sweet Discoveries event.
The Sweet Discoveries event approaching soon will introduce the renowned Applin character to Pokemon Go. Not just that, trainers can transform their Apple Core creature into either Flapple or Appletun by using a unique evolving item.
There’s still no word on the third form of the Galarian Pokemon, Dipplin, but the event promises more than just that – you can also expect to encounter Shiny variations of Skwovet, Delibird, and Cherubi! For a full rundown of all the details, keep reading below!
Sweet Discoveries event: Date & time
The Pokemon Go Sweet Discoveries event starts on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM and continues until Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time, all during the ongoing Might and Mastery season.
In this scenario, trainers can take their time to capture Applin, Flapple, and Appletun alongside other highlighted creatures during their hunting expeditions, with a special focus on tracking down the rare Shinies as well.
Event bonuses
The following bonuses will be active during the event for all trainers:
- x2 Candy for catching Pokemon
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Delibird and Shiny Skwovet
- Increased chance to hatch Shiny Skwovet, Shiny Delibird, and Shiny Cherubi from Eggs
- Catching Skwovet or Delibird will award Berries
- Increased chance for apples to appear at Mossy Lure Modules
- 1/2 Egg hatch distance for the first three Eggs hatched using the Pokemon Go Egg hatching widget
Pokemon debuts
To clarify, the Generation 8 Pokemon that is a dual Grass/Dragon type – Applin – will make its appearance during the Sweet Discoveries event. Alongside it, both its evolutions, Flapple and Appletun, will also be introduced.
Players who encounter Applin in the wild can employ either a combination of 200 Candy and 20 Tart Apples to transform it into Flapple, or 200 Candy and 20 Sweet Apples to transform it into Appletun.
Apples
At the Sweet Discoveries event, adventurers can come across apples as they traverse the wilderness. A simple tap on these apples could yield Sweet, Tart Apples, or perhaps even Pokemon appearances – such as Applin.
These apples will also have increased chances of appearing around Mossy Lure Modules.
Wild encounters
The following Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild during the event:
- Alolan Rattata*
- Abra*
- Bellsprout*
- Delibird*
- Gulpin*
- Bidoof*
- Munna*
- Bounsweet*
- Skwovet*
- Snorlax*
- Shuckle*
- Komala*
- Applin
Pokemon marked with an (*) can appear as Shiny.
Eggs
Here are the Pokemon that will hatch from 7km Eggs during the Sweet Discoveries event:
- Skwovet*
- Delibird*
- Cherubi*
- Munchlax*
Field Research task rewards
Tasks centered around special events will be offered for exploration, and those who successfully finish these tasks will receive valuable prizes. Among the rewards are Stardust and opportunities to encounter Pokémon that are part of the event.
Timed Research
At The Sweet Discoveries event, players will have a chance to engage in a complimentary Time-bound Research activity. Completing these tasks will grant them the following prizes and perks:
- x1 Mossy Lure Module
- x1 Tart Apple
- x1 Sweet Apple
- Encounters with event-themed Pokemon
Don’t forget that the Timed Research will end on April 29, 2025, at 8:00 PM local time. Make sure to finish all tasks and collect your rewards before it expires.
Paid Timed Research
Participants in the Sweet Discoveries event will have the opportunity to purchase, for approximately $1.99 (or its equivalent in your local currency), an event-specific Timed Research task.
Some of the rewards from the Paid Timed Research include:
- x2 Mossy Lure Module
- Extra encounters with event-themed Pokemon, including Applin, Skwovet, Delibird, and more!
You can buy and give Paid Timed Research tickets to fellow players, but only if you’ve reached the stage of ‘Great Friends’ or a higher level of friendship with them in the game.
Previously noted, the limited-time researches requiring payment will expire too. Therefore, it’s essential to finish all related tasks and collect any earned rewards before the event concludes.

As a gamer, I’m excited to let you know that the upcoming event has some thrilling surprises in store for my character’s Avatar! These exciting goodies can be found and purchased from the in-game shop at your convenience. No need to worry if you can’t grab them right away; they’ll still be available long after the festivities have ended, giving you plenty of time to snag them later on.

Just like many other events, PokeStop Showcases will occur at various PokeStops. Keep an eye out for them to participate in competitions tailored to the event theme, and you’ll have a chance to win additional rewards.

At the event, you’ll find the Sweet Discoveries Ultra Ticket for sale at the Pokemon Go Online Shop, priced at approximately $1.99 (depending on your local currency exchange rate).
The Ultra Ticket Box will include:
- x1 event ticket
