Major Audio Bug Fixed in Atomfall: Players Rejoice!

Summary

  • Rebellion Developments has issued a hotfix for Atomfall‘s persistent audio issue.
  • The game has received mostly positive reviews despite some bugs and technical issues.
  • The developer has plans to maintain the franchise, in the short term with DLC updates and a comic miniseries.

Rebellion Developments recently released a fix, known as a hotfix, for their action survival game, Atomfall. This update aims to resolve audio issues that some gamers have been experiencing. Launched on March 27 across various platforms, Atomfall is an adventure set in the aftermath of the Windscale nuclear accident in England, 1957. The blaze persisted for three days, and the game invites players to explore a fictionalized scenario where they traverse a radioactive zone enclosed by quarantine.

The game, titled “Atomfall,” signifies a shift from the usual line of projects by Rebellion, with the Sniper Elite series being their most recognized work. Players appear to appreciate this venture into a fresh genre. Atomfall has received mostly positive feedback and holds a 75 critic average on OpenCritic and a Mostly Positive user rating on Steam. However, despite its strengths, the game has encountered some significant issues since its debut.

For players of Atomfall, one of the most aggravating problems has been the complete silence due to audio dropouts, particularly on Xbox and PC. Following a period of exploration within the game, the sound will abruptly cease, necessitating a reboot to restore it. However, a hotfix implemented on April 10 by Rebellion is expected to rectify this issue. This is the second hotfix for Atomfall in April; the first addressed game stability, issues with the suspend/resume feature on Xbox, and a bug that was causing ladders and other objects to vanish in specific locations.

Atomfall April 10 Hotfix Addresses Audio Issues

  • Resolved issues with audio dropping out

On launch day, developers had a thorough fix prepared for the game, indicating their dedication to resolving any immediate player issues. Intriguingly, Ben Fisher, head of design, has disclosed that Rebellion is already making post-release plans for the game titled Atomfall. While the possibility of a sequel hasn’t been ruled out, there will first be two DLC updates. Each update promises to steer the survival game towards unique genres – horror and sci-fi. Furthermore, a four-part comic miniseries is set to be published in the science fiction magazine 2000 AD.

On its debut, the game “Atomfall” was made available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, offering easy access for subscribers of Microsoft’s gaming service. Yet, it can also be found on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and personal computers through standard online marketplaces. Despite sharing similarities with the “Fallout” series and drawing inspiration from “New Vegas”, this game is more reminiscent of the “STALKER” and “Metro” titles. The latter game has also been recognized as a design influence for “Atomfall”.
